I am running into a bizarre compatibility problem. I have the following in my SR-2 system:
Slot 1: GT630 (4GB)
Slot 4: 780Ti
Slot 7: 780Ti

When I press dell to go into BIOS, the entire BIOS locks up, I get no response to any keystrokes. I don't know if it actually crashes or not, but it certainly stops responding to keyboard input.

If instead I put in an old 512 MB 8800GT card, it works fine. I tried several other newer cards and they all seem to exhibit the same issue.

As far as I can tell the BIOS chokes on something, possibly related to GPU VRAM size. I know it's a long shot, but it's a pretty major show-stopping bug - is there any chance of a BIOS fix for this? The problem is actually wider reaching than this, as the Nvidia driver proceeds to choke on the GT630 as well (it doesn't crash but is excruciatingly slow in VGA mode), and I suspect there is a memory stomp going on somewhere. The card works fine in other machines.

If you really think they are likely to invest the resources into troubleshooting this and releasing a BIOS patch to fix the problem you need a serious reality check.

I reported a bug with the on-board Marvell controller causing it to detect no disks if two SATA 5-port PMPs were used, but worked fine if one PMP + 1 disk on the other port were used. I was told they escalated it to their product manager and Marvell, which is the usual way of burrying the issue. And no, I have not heard back from anyone about it since then (it happened quite a few months ago). Not that I actually expected a firmware based fix from either EVGA or Marvell (newer standalone Marvell firmwares acquired from 3rd parties work but did not change the mentioned broken behavious).

    Dear gordan79,

Can you please confirm if you continue to have errors when running 48GB of RAM (24 GB per controller) on the system? Please email me at chrisb@evga.com with the results and we can go from there.

    Dear gordan79,

I am very sorry to hear that you did not hear back on your inquiry as I can assure you that we are here to investigate the issue and try to help if it is possible.

Can you please send more information on the behavior that you are seeing including the model of drives in use and the BIOS version that you are running? I will be awaiting your email with more information to try and help further. chrisb@evga.com.

I would suggest you call EVGA  1-888-881-3842

This really would be a post at the end of a thread that cannot be solved by members on the Forum, this includes Teach Support.
I have seen you post "I would suggest you call EVGA  1-888-881-3842" as a first reply in other posts as well.
We all know EVGA has a Great Tech Support in place, this includes this Forum.

@ChrisB - No, removing half of the RAM does not fix the problem, the moment the BIOS configuration screen comes up the keyboard becomes completely non-responsive. I just sent you an email. Let me know if you need more details.

@bcavanagh - EVGA have great customer service, including RMA service - nobody is disputing that.

Not trying to be prudent but are you sure the power supply is adequate? You said it works with lower grade card maybe a power issue? Just throwing some ideas out there. I had two 7990s and they said they never got a bios for quadfire. Marketing scheme. bridges on the cards bridge in the box. Irrelevant from this topic but man I'm still so mad. I did get a 4k monitor and a water block for it so it does look better just not spectacular fps. Bent a pin back on my rampage iii extreme with the 930 i7 and it cranks out the fps for my friends. Pretty much built a computer for them to use when they're here. Good luck hope you are able to figure it out.

@jdub69: Do pay attention, please. I am trying to use a card with LOWER power consumption. 8800GT (which works) requires 125W. GT630 (which doesn't work) requires 30W. ATI HD7450 (which also works) requires 35W. This is absolutely not a power issue. And I have a 1500W PSU.

My guess is that it's a BIOS/VBIOS. The motherboard BIOS and the one on the GT630 make mutually incompatible assumptions and end up clobbering each other's memory somewhere.
