I have this thing about self driving cars going mainstream which I will not discuss on this thread, but I can see this being VERY handy for the military. Just imagine being able to transport explosive ammunition in hazardes areas without anyone driving in the vehicle. I can see this as a great tool by allowing soldiers to multi task without anyone needing to pilot the vehicle. Also I can see this as a good way for solders to use a self driving vehicle to go over road ways that they are not sure of that may have IEDs or enemy arms fire (basically using it as bait) before riding in the vehicle. Ha they can maybe use these self driving vehicles as decoys too.

There are way to many variables to be able to say it would benefit in those situations, along with how much one of those would cost to basically say lets send this out to get destroyed.

Regardless of all possible downsides, it's still pretty darn cool concept, which has a lot of potential.

Ya you sure do make a point and I thought about that before posting that. But MY point is its better for one of those to get destroyed than lose a human life. Nothing can replace that.

I know from personal experience (2 tours in Afghanistan doing route clearance) that in the long run more lives will be endangered using that technology.
