Ubuntu 14.04 best video card

Hi all
I have a hand me down computer that is OK with Ubuntu 14.04 installed for everyday use.   I like to play CS and COD4 online and I am wondering if I will benefit from upgrading to a 750 graphic card for kill ratios.  I saved up $120 so I know I can get it.  I have searched the evga forum and can't find the Ubuntu answer.  Maybe I am outdated but I only need CS and COD4 MP for now with my friends.  Ubuntu says my computer info are

4gb ram
Intel Core Duo CPU E8400 3Ghz X2

    Sorry but I don't think your motherboard will have a recent enough BIOS version to support a GTX 750 :(

    Don't play COD4 or CS in Ubuntu.  Playing the game virtualized in Ubuntu is awful for the game's performance.  Once you play COD4 and CS in a native Windows environment, I hope you will see a huge performance increase. 
    I am all for Ubuntu, but come on man...!  Linux is for OpenGL.  Virtualization is a performance robbing hardware underutilizing pig.
     
    As far as the title of this thread is concerned, when it comes to theoretical performance, the best Ubuntu video card is the same as the best Windows video card.
     
    EVGA doesn't make the drivers; NVIDIA does.  Currently, the best NVIDIA card supported by Ubuntu is the GeForce GTX TITAN Z (which of course is also the best Windows video card currently).

    It's not so much the virtualization that kills the performance, but more that Microsoft will not open up the Direct X API so that Wine devs could implement it properly into Wine, Windows games that use OpenGL work extremely well in Wine.
     
    But anyway, he's going to need to upgrade his motherboard to something recent before running  any recent graphics card :(

    There are several available on them market. As my opinion EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SC in perfect for Ubuntu 14.04
