Hey guys, just wondering about something.

This cards RAM can overclock by an insane amount, I can get the RAM to run at a stable 6.7Ghz, that's a 1.3Ghz increase!

I've noticed though , just looking at the side profile of the card under the heatsink, the RAM chips do not contact the heatsink at all..... this(and the fact that no sensor to monitor RAM temps) caused me to get a little worried about RAM temps with such a big overclock...... so here's a little test I ran.

I used an Infrared temp gun and measured the temps from the back of the PCB where the RAM chips are soldered while simulating various loads, both at factory settings and overclocked.
I used Unigine Heaven on high settings to simulate load.... this usually gets my graphics core up to around 57-58C just to give a rough idea.
From the back of the PCB, the temps I measured on the RAM chips were as follows

Factory settings Idle - 28-31C
Factory settings Load - 40-46C
Overclocked 6.7Ghz Load - 40-47C

Really there was hardly no difference at all in temps with this RAM when overclocked to 6.7Ghz! o.O
So I have to ask.... could it be that my method is flawed? I know that measuring temps from the back of the PCB isn't ideal, but it should at least give me a general idea... right?
Or could it be that this RAM is just designed to run this fast and that I shouldn't worry about the chips not contacting the heatsink?

I did some googling, and found some pics of the 750 TI FTW with its cooler removed, the RAM on this card appears to be "Samsung k4g41325fc-hc03", Some more googling revealed that these are the same RAM modules in the PS4.... anyone have anything more on the specs of these modules? Why they run so fast without getting hot? Curious minds want to know! o.O

It seems this memory is rated for 6Ghz, so the RAM on our GTX 750 TIs is actually way underclocked..... considering the FTW is a factory overclocked card, it's kinda hard to understand why they didn't set the RAM clock atleast to its rated value. o.O
Not complaining, I'm more than happy that mine runs at 6.7Ghz, just find it a little curious.

The 750 ti gpu core (even when oc'ed) does not even come close to fully saturating the memory bus, that's why the ram is clocked so low at stock, because it doesn't need to be any faster.

Memory speed go up, frame rate go up, that's all I know..... so I wouldn't say that speeding up the RAM is entirely pointless.
The PNY GTX 750 TI is the best performing of the bunch at stock settings, and coincidentily, it's also the only one that out of the box is running at 6Ghz memory clock.

Wait, nvm I thought the 750 ti had a 256-bit bus for some reason . when in fact it only has a 128-bit, so oc'ing the memory would help a bit.

Wish it did have atleast a 192bit memory bus.... I think the 128bit bus is holding it back a bit.... when overclocked it can match or even beat a 660 in alot of games, with a bigger bus I think it could take on an r9 270.... I think nvidia made a big mistake putting a 128bit bus on this card..... but I guess it helps keep the power draw down.
