From what I've read 87 chipsets will be compatible with the haswell refresh cpu's with a bios update.
Devils Canyon will not be compatible with Z87. There are other advantages to Z97 over Z87.. I also believe the 800 series has been delayed.

DC will compatible with Z87

Yes but most are requiring a bios update.

So far the FTW doesnt have one, nor is it being available for step up.

I hope EVGA doesnt leave us hanging out to dry with the FTW ill be bummed if I cant upgrade to the devilscanyon

Im getting no repsonse at all in the bios section of the FTW, asking if its a no go, a maybe or a update is coming.   Just silence.

Yeah, it would definitely suck if we can't get a BIOS update to enable DC. Hell, I was on the verge of jumping on the Asus Sabertooth train, but I reconciled and eventually stuck my EVGA Z87 FTW. If Asus has the BIOS available already why can't we?

DC is supported without the update.

The other two boards needed it, this one was good from the get go.

There probably wont be a stepup on this MB, because it is supported.  Really no need to upgrade.

O ok, that's good to know that FTW boards don't require an update. However, I'm hopeful that EVGA will honor the step up for FTW boards. I want a piece of Broadwell, ijs.

That would be cool, EVGA is good like that. They usually listen to the community on things like this.

Not going to happen. No reason.

Doubt you would even see an improvement.

Nothing wrong with the Z87 and they do a great job on the 4790K

The latest update, release back in March/April time frame, specifies Devils Canyon. There are multiple threads asking about it, and it says it should work with DC.

O ok, thanks. Was it the BIOS update that included the option to disable the boot beeps?

I think that is the same one. It is the most recent bios that is available. I will see if I can find it for you.

It did not need a bios update,  it was the first board ready to go

It was good to go with the last update.

i built a rig for my friend a few months back with the Z87 Classy...  I just built myself a new rig with the Z97 Classy and there are no real differences that I see...  If you are worried about going from Z87 - Z97 it not worth the trouble of breaking down your rig, waiting on the board and going through the windows re-install grief.  Just my 3 cents!!

The latest version out is v1.10 here that includes DC compatibility which I checked I am currently updated to.

Disabling boot beeps wasn't always an option in the BIOS until after 1.09. Please refer to the "Speaker beep" option difference in my screenshots:
