I need some help. I'm getting lower fps than I think I should be on a number of games. Sleeping Dogs with the hi-res pack on extreme runs at 45fps while my friend who has the same card gets solid 60 with vsync on and more if not. max payne 3 at full AA tells me I'm only using 2030mb of vram and yet I'm getting 27fps. Hitman and some others are similar. I think it's related to AA as the frames go up when I turn is off. My setup is as follows: i7 4770k 3.5ghz gtx 780 sc acx 16gb kingston hyper x ram 750w 80+ gold psu asus hero VI I've done a clean install of the latest driver and nothing is overclocked. I've read on many forums that my system should be able to handle pretty much anything at 60fps. It is bothering me because I paid £400 for this card and expect top quality performance. Could someone suggest some others things to try please?

Is your CPU overheating while playing the games? Is your card boosting to the correct clock speeds while playing the games?

Hottest it gets playing Sleeping dogs on max settings is 52/53 but normally stays around 48 degrees. It's only using 22% of the cpu's resources. My card is showing a gpu clock of 992-1005mhz and voltage of 1075 when playing games.

Does your video card downclock to 324MHz while idle at the desktop with nothing open or does it stay clocked up at idle?

No. Today we swapped our cards over and tried them in both systems. My card worked fine in his machine and his did the same thing in mine, i.e., dropped to 45 fps while playing Sleeping Dogs. Does this mean that my card is functioning correctly and that it's another component that needs looking at?

It means there is something wrong with your system hardware or windows configuration. I would re-install windows first to rule out software & driver issues. Is your friend running the hi-res texture pack for sleeping dogs too?

Do this for me on your rig... Verify your card is running at x16 speeds. Download GPU-Z and run the render test, the render test can be brought up be selecting the question mark circled in green. The red indicates if your card is running at x16, x8 or x4. Disregard the orange. Latest version of GPU-Z can be downloaded here: http://www.techpowerup.co.downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ Your card should read as PCI-E 3.0x16 @x16 3.0 while running the render test.

How does your friends system run when he has his CPU at stock clocks? Still getting 60 fps solid? Are you guys both running the same graphics driver without any mods to the nvidia control panel settings?

i think your graphics card does a good job...totaly stock i do 9032 firestrike and hard overclocked(not maxed jet) i do 9642 in firestrike..and i got the ftw 980 mhz boost 1083 and overclocked 1030 boost 1175 atm.(as fast as the classie) i think with your cpu 4.0-4.2 on your boost and a good overclock on your gpu you wil get the same results..your gpu can do a 1100-1200 boost with 1 or 2 slides of voltage. your friends extra power comes from his little overclock on his cpu.. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1112959 http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1742577

Yes your card give fantastic result, better score than mine ex GTX780 Classified with 993MHz. OK now Futuremark is updated and drivers are newer but nice score. Did you change CPU Clock maybe? Try to Enable Turbo. I think your CPU Score can be higher in Firestrike. Result of reference GTX780 (876MHz) is about 8600-8700 and about 9200-9300 Graphics Score in Firestrike, everything over you got because you choose SC model.

Scores look good. You do have turbo enabled on your CPU right? Turbo will allow the CPU to clock itself up to 3.9GHz when needed. Only other things I could think of that would be helping your friend get higher FPS inside the game would be a overclock on his GPU, or, his system has less background processes running when playing the game vs your system that may have lots of background processes running while playing. When you guys were comparing how the game ran on both your systems you did compare the same locations correct? Yes, we need your friends sleeping dogs benchmark and 3dmark firestike score too.
