I have two EVGA 780ti video cards.  I have 3 monitors plugged into the DVI interfaces of the cards, and setup as SLI/one big screen.

I have a 4th monitor on the top- and have it plugged into the top video cards HDMI slot.  I can plug this monitor in when windows is booted and logged in - and recognize it and all works fine.

When I go to restart the machine however, that is where the problems happen.  The system boots, I can tell see the BIOS prompt and the windows 8.1 spinning dots.

Then I get an orange screen (my chosen background color) with nothing on it.  After about 30 seconds, this screen goes black, and I never get to a login screen.  If I then unplug the 4th monitor on the HDMI - the system boots fine, and logs in.  I can then plug in the 4th screen and all is well.

Specifics:
windows 8.1
Drivers: 340.43 beta (and the prior release version as well did the same thing)
3 ASUS VG248QE (plugged into DVI)
1 Acer H243H (plugged into HDMI)

Boot sequence - spinning windows 8.1 dots shows up on the HDMI screen.
Center screen of the 3 VG248's is active but black.
Boot sequence finishes.  Acer screen goes black, and center VG248 goes to orange screen.
30 seconds - screen goes black and I never see a login prompt.

Anyone have ideas on what might be wrong?

Thank you,
Kevin

What are the rest of your system specs, such as motherboard and power supply?  Have you tried a different HDMI cable?

I think you need to reconnect the monitors in a different configuration to get it to function properly.

This link is specifically for 600 series card, but your 780Ti's should be no different.  Looks like there is a recommended configuration and 5 different options that you can have them connected.  Try one of those and see if it fixes your issue.  Good luck!
