Hi guys,
So I recently purchased Tomb Raider 2013 from steam summer sale for like £3.75 (bless gaben) and I decided to start playing it this week, beside the fact that it really is a great game and I can run it quite well on ultra however my GPUs are running kind of hot. Basically I have a custom fan curve and my first GPU is running around 65-73 degrees and GPU 2 is about 55-62 and the fan speed is about 75 to 80%.

Cards idle about 37-40

Now I know that the weather is quite hot these days but I mostly play at nights and I wanted ask if these temperatures are acceptable or are they too hot?

The temperatures are perfectly fine under load.  I don't think most people here would consider those temperatures high for being under load.  It's not surprising that the top card is warmer, as it will be utilized more and generally has less available airflow compared to the bottom card.  In other words, the temps are perfectly fine.

Those are completely normal temperatures. Under load, the default operation is to keep the GPU around 80C at which point the the GPU will throttle the clocks to maintain ~80C.  If you're running the GPU's in adjacent PCIe slots that is why your top GPU is hotter. The other GPU is blocking some of the airflow, and heat from the other GPU is being drawn into the intake of the TOP GPU. If you can run the GPU's with an empty PCIe slot in between, this will help lower your top GPU temps.  Even  running it at x8 won't make any significant difference in performance.

As NordicJedi posted, those temperatures are perfectly normal, if not slightly below, for 780s under load. If you start seeing temps into the high 80s or into the 90s, that is when I'd start looking at potential issues with airflow, or perhaps clean the fans.

I would even consider those temps as great considering you have SLI.

A fan blowing air between the GPUs would help. Do you have a side panel fan that blows air in? Are all those visible fans exhaust? Personally I run my H50 as a push/pull exhaust. There might be a degree or more on the CPU that way but the internal case temps are a lot lower versus dumping the CPU heat into the case. What do you have for intake fans?

Just for giggles, have you tried swapping the GPUs to see if the temp follows the GPU? While the top GPU will usually run a few degrees hotter, 10C is more like the difference when you have the GPU's in adjacent PCIe slots. My Titans run almost identical temps with a slot between and a GTX 650Ti in the middle for PhysX.

I almost mentioned that.  The difference in temps can also be due to the natural variation in temps from card to card.  Swapping the order of the cards could allow for both cards to run around the same temperature.  I once had a pair of cards in SLI, where one of the cards would run about 7-9°C hotter than the other.  Swapping the order tended to put them about the same temperature.

There is usually a easy way to determine which card should be on top.  Just look at the stock VID of both cards and which ever card has the lower stock VID under load, then that card should be on top.  Unless some extremely odd TIM job occurred on one card 9 out of 10 times the lower stock VID card will always be coolest and should be on top.
