So... I got bored yesterday
and thought "Hey, why don't I make a waterblock from that ol' LGA 1366 stock heatsink that's totally useless since the fan broke"
.
Well here's what I have so far:
I chopped off that nasty fan but left the mounting system on the heatsink (if it doesn't have enough mounting pressure i'll throw a steel X bracket with spring loaded bolts to hold it in place).
8" (I think) 3/8 ID 1/2 OD Copper pipe
And that little mutilated 1.5" 1/4 ID 3/8 OD pipe is supposed to be a flow disruption thingy that fits in the center of that 3/8 ID pipe which slows the water and allows it to absorb more heat as it passes through (that's the idea anyway, don't really know if it will work or not).
I still need to cut away some of the aluminum fins and drill a hole through the side to fit the 1/2 OD pipe and make some minor tweaks, but i'll do that tomorrow.
So, tell me what you think of this crazy idea that was spawned by boredom (suggestions are welcome).
