Again, as with all my reviews, I will do a written and a video review.  I don't think the video review is up par from me, but I am including it anyway as I feel like it would be disservice to myself to not edit and upload it.  Expect higher quality content in the near future!  I've got some awesome ideas in the pipeline for some new reviews. So expect to see more reviews very soon!

A power supply is a power supply, right? Wrong.  There are so many things that make a power supply great or the worst thing that you can do for you awesome new custom rig you just built.

When it comes to power supplies, you look for a few different things such as: wattage, ripple suppression, and 80+ rating.  The EVGA Supernova G2 1300w has it all.

I will not get into all the technical aspects of it, because I personally do not have the equipment to verify it myself, but sites like johnnyguru.com have all the information needed for that.  However, I do know that it is based on the Superflower Leadex which is a great platform.

Why did I buy the EVGA Supernova G2 1300w?

My previous power supply which is now in my secondary system was just not cutting it wattage wise, I was experiencing power shutdowns due to pulling too much wattage.  So, I was in the market for a new power supply but did not want to sell my first born to get something that not only allow me to add another card if I so wished, but also would allow some high overclocks for benching.  That led me to the EVGA Supernova G2 1300w.

Just like their motherboards, they were not known for the high quality standards when it came to their power supplies.  They were not as bad as the grey boxes that aren’t even 80+ rated, but they certainly were not something you would be looking to put into your newly made custom rig. The EVGA P2 and G2 series have changed that though.  At their price point, it is hard for any company to compete for performance and wattage available.  At the time of this review, you can pick up the EVGA Supernova G2 1300w for as little as 149.99 after rebate.  At this price, you shouldn’t even be looking for anything else. When I bought mine after its initial release at 200 dollars it was a steal then.  Knock off 50 dollars and I can’t imagine ever buying another power supply.

So what all do you get with this power supply?
Well obviously you get an 80+ Gold rated power supply with great ripple suppression and all the features you would ever want in a power supply like this. I will not go into all of them because the typical end user does not really care about how it has under 15mv variation on all the rails throughout load testing. (Pulled from jonnyguru.com)

You get EVGA’s wonderful support. As I have said in a previous review, my luck with electronics has been less than stellar and I have had to use EVGA’s support for this power supply.  It was quick, easy, and convenient for me. I even received it on Christmas Eve!  To my surprise, there was also a letter of apology that this happened and a Duke Nukem belt buckle.  Pretty cool right!?

This power supply is downright amazing in what it can handle.  I was able to push over 1.45v on two GPUs and 1.55v on my CPU while benching and did not experience any shut downs. It absolutely handled it like it a pro.

The G2 1300w also is fairly quiet. I can’t hear it in my system above my case fans, and have never heard any capacitor whine from it.

So, that’s all I really have to say, it is honestly an amazing power supply and for the cost.. I don’t see why you would want to look at anything else.

I bought one shortly after release.  I thought I was going to have to sell my first born in order to get something that was worth getting at this wattage, and then the 1300g2 came along... ;)
