Hi I wonder if anyone has the same issue. I downloaded and installed the latest Samsung Magician software for my 840 Pro (clean install as I have not installed it previously), and the app crashed every 10 seconds or so. Does anyone have this software running successfully on an EVGA x79 Dark? What am I missing? I have this software (another version) running on my RIVE and I have no issues with it at all.

I have the same problem with my X79 SLI. I had the previous version installed and it worked (v43), updated to the latest (v44) and it crashes out almost immediately with an error. I went back to v43 and it works again, but it prompts me to update every time I turn on the machine.

Thank You! I appreciate the info. I think I have an older version saved off somewhere, but let me search for v43. I ended up uninstalling v44.

Yes after some searches I finally found the download links for v4.3 and v4.2.1 and I will try v4.3 later today. I suppose no one running Dark and Samsung SSD is also using the Magician software, or this would be a more common occurrence.

Does seem like a pretty small percentage so far who have reported an issue.  4.3 works fine, so if we don't get a fix, I'll wait to try 4.5 when it comes.

Thanks for confirming this guys. This is kind of like the Corsair 860 PSU problem with the Dark. The Dark is a solid board, other than some compatibility issues.

May be an issue with that version of the software.  I just setup the same SSD in a brand new Dell Optiplex 9020 SFF at work and I was having the same issues, only when RAPID mode was enabled though.

Heatware: Trelor - I primarily use eBay which is attached to my heatware.

It does seem to be with the version (4.4) itself.  I'm using 4.3 now and all other prior versions worked fine as well.  With 4.4, you can't even change a setting before the error pops up and won't allow you to do anything.

I am just curious, is using this software very beneficial?
I have two ea Samsung 840 Pro SSD's., and just let Windows 8.1 do whatever it deems with them.

Unless you or someone with a similar setup did a BM comparison, you probably won't know for sure.  The thing I like about it is, I can set up my SSD based on all the info provided in the software, then close it and let it be.  It doesn't need to be running for anything once set up.

Thanks for the info, I guess since mine is already all set up and running in Windows 8.1 I will just leave it be.

Yeah, I can't wait for v4.5, this bug is really annoying. Oh well, at least 4.3 works fine.

I'm having the exact same issue.  Both v4.3 and v4.4 crash on start.  I had to roll back to v4.1 instead and just ignore the upgrade (Ha!) message after a reboot.  I'm running Windows Server 2012 R2 however, not Windows 8.1 and have the EVGA Dark fully loaded with 64GB of RAM and two Samsung EVO 840 1TB drives.

    Welcome to the forums...

You're the first one that I've seen stating ver. 4.3 doesn't work.  From everything I've read, it's seems to be an issue with 4.4 until now, and not everyone has the issue even when using 4.4.  I have my old X58 rig running and is using ver 4.4 without issue.

Okay, I was informed by Samsung update this morning - Magician v.4.5 is now available. So, who goes first?  Any courageous volunteer?

Thanks for the heads up on the update.

I was also having this same issue with ver 4.4.

I've upgraded to 4.5 and the issue is resolved.

I found the same issue on my ASUS Rampage IV Formula X79 Motherboard.
Went back to 4.3. I have not give 4.5 a try.

    Same here.

4.3 was great, 4.4 was trash, and now 4.5 works even better than 4.3. I even bench much higher now that im running 4.5

I have a x79 4way classified with the updated Bios, so they are almost the same boards.
