hello guys

from a few days to me is giving this annoying problem my gtx 780ti classified, how can I solve it without the thermal tape? is there a way? if I open the card I lose my warranty? I want to solve because it is really annoying

Welcome.
You will not lose warranty if careful remove cooler and not damage sticker with serial number of card or hardware.
You can remove cooler and replace with waterblock in warranty too. Prepare everything nicely, check 2-3 times and you can try to fix.

Hi guys,

I recently bought an EVGA 770 SC ACX for my new build and kept noticing this "rattle" noise as you say.  At first I thought it was the fan, then the hard drive, and now I've pinpointed it to the graphics card.  I RMA'ed with NewEgg just to see if maybe I can get a good card but I'll have to see.  Other than this little issue, EVGA has been great and I love their enthusiast oriented business scheme.  Anyways, back to the noise; It becomes audible at around 48% fan speed and also 71% fan speed.  Any fan speed percentage ±3% from the above mentioned produces a rattle too.  Is there any good fixes I can do on this card without taking off the cooler and reapplying thermal paste?

-Adam

My Build:
"The Vector"
Intel Core i5-4690 @ 3.9GHz
16GB of A-DATA XPG 2
EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX (WHOOP WHOOP)
Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H
Cooler Master N200

Got my 780 Classified yesterday and noticed a slight humming/grinding sound when I booted up Watch_Dogs for the first time.

I ordered it as a replacement for my EVGA GTX 580 3GB which has died, so to have this issue happen on a £400+ card is not impressive.

I'll check for loose fins tonight, and check for rattles at the back plate where it meets the case.

Wow, Superbxxx, you made my day. I bought yesterday a GTX 780 classified and it had the rattle problem at 68 % fan and above. I opened it, put some tape and it worked really really good. There is no rattle any more. It took me 5 minutes. I encourage other people to do so, it's so easy and effective.

I used the non-conductive tape that came in the box. The fins you point at in the picture were really loose!!

I'm having the same rattle problem with my other 770 Classified now.  Thankfully this is an easy fix if you have the materials.

Yeah.  I used that pink tape that came with my cards.  The one that's in the picture above.  it's rattle free now.

I hope this fixes my rattle/noise. Im on vacation now so i cant try this yet, but my gtx 770 acx makes a weird rattly grindy mettallic noise at 45 - 48 fan speed and 65 - 68 speed, its weird.

After saving up for months for a psu and this 770 in order to get rid of my 650 ti and finally play games on ultra, its dissapointing to have this issue.

But aslong as this fixes it and my card continues to work ill be ok.

Sorry for any typos, im on a phone.

I have had this issue for a number of cards. I gave up on RMA since every replacement card either rattled or had fan noise issues. The nice thing is I only paid for shipping once. Anyway as per the picture below on the left you can see the adapter screw mounts have been removed in order to remove the rear bracket. My question is what type of tool was used to remove these screws on the rear bracket? Was it a special screw driver or just pliers? I want to try this fix as I have never dissembled a GPU let alone worked on my CPU/Heatsink in such a manner as the first post's fix does. I just want to make sure I do not damage anything in the process.

Thanks

Looks like K|NGP|N Edition no such problems at all.
But our problem is noisy fan than on normal Classified version.
About 10% is noise difference I think.

I also have problems with this, but it only happens when the card is hot, when I go to 100% fan speed when the card is cool it does not happen at all.

Use a normal screw driver. Good luck!

I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not talking about the first post fix but one found later in this thread. On my 780 the adapter mounts extend out as far as the DVI connection itself. In the picture these are removed.  In the picture on the left you can see the DVI adaptor ports screw mounts have been removed. I assume these have a dual function of acting as a mount of the adapter and providing support as screws for the rear bracket. I am asking how to remove these mountings not ones with normal screws.

Hi guys,

I just RMA'd my EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX because of the loose fins.

Do you think this is a problem in all GTX 770 ACX's ? I am afraid i had spent money to send my card to Germany for nothing :/

The tape solution worked well, but I had improved it: use a hot melt glue gun! They are very cheap, and the silicone its and instant and not-conductive glue.

I put a little glue on the loose parts of the cooler and violà, never heard any rattle again. I used a toothpick to apply only a few drops. Fast and easy.

The great thing about hot melt adhesive its that you can remove it with your fingers without doesn't leaving any marks, if you want to take off this fix.

Hi eliteA92.

I also thought about it but I was afraid that the glue would melt with the warmth of grafics card.
If you notice that falls warns us. Apart from that is well thought out.

If anyone has ACX rattling noise please contact EVGA tech support. Better to RMA and get the problem fixed that way especially if the item is in warranty.

Well...you can try the fix. Ou como quem diz: experimenta a minha solução.
