Does the FF POST code come up immediately?

If you connect a monitor, can you get into BIOS?

In general you can think if 'FF' POST as Found Fault.

In my case when I was building out a Z87 Classified system for a friend, I was able to get into BIOS, but the system would not boot.
Figured out that the DVD I wss given with the BIOS update wasn't bootable.

If you immediately get an 'FF', go back to the basics... Remove all but one graphics card. Remove all but one stick of memory and reseat the processor after carefully looking for any bent or misaligned pins.

    Good luck.

Make sure your CPU cooler is not over-tightened, check for extra stand-offs beneath the motherboard and make sure that if you're using an aftermarket CPU cooler that the backplate (if any) is properly grounded. Also move the CPU fan to a different fan header on the board.

I am having this exact issue with my newly purchased z87 Stinger.

    My hardware is:

    Z87 Stinger
    Intel i7 4790K
    (2) Corsair Dominator 2400 (2x8GB)
    Evga Hadron Hydro
    Evga Hydro water cooling kit
    Evga 690gtx gpu

I have made sure there are no bent pins on the CPU socket. I double checked torque on the screws holding the water block down. I've tested memory in another mother board for 48h under memtest86. I know the gpu works as it came out of another machine. Hard disks are brand new and I did a full preclear 0/1/0 on each without fail.

If I have to take this rig apart again I am going to lose my mind!

Upon turning the machine on I am always presented with FF on the display on the board. Then, either it will turn itself off or I can push and hold power to shutdown. Power back on and it will get into BIOS.

I can't get into BIOS or see anything when FF is displayed. As soon as power comes on FF appears.

Trying to update bios now from 1.0.1 to 1.0.8

I got the bios updated to 1.0.8 and have rebooted numerous times and the FF status code has gone away. I hope it stays this way...

Shatt, the BIOS update worked for you because it has support for the 4790K that you have, it is support via BIOS update.

Taxiwarez, what CPU do you have in your Stinger?

I just got a brand new z87 Classified, it powered on and even unexpectidly loaded the windows that was installed on another PC (I had migrated the HD with intention of re-installing).

Anyways, I would get the FF error when reboot despite all that. Took me ages to troubleshoot. It seems that my z87 classified came with BIOS FW 1.0.5 and it seems that Fourth Gen Intel support (haswell) was only introduced in 1.0.8. As soon as I upgraded to 1.0.8, FF error was gone.

It is really weird since this board has socket 1150 which is incompatible with my old 3rd gen intel CPU's socket 1155. I was forced to buy a 4th gen cpu for this motherboard, yet the firmware that it ships with doesn't even support fourth gen.... eVGA??!?
