evga used to provide lifetime warranties. so. and im buying zero of these cards. I still think my 780 has many miles left on it {provided it doesn't crap out in the next 2 years}

Well, I didn't know that about the former lifetime warranty. I still like my cards enough as is, so I will remain happy with them as well. Hope I never have to RMA though, as it will be a month long process for living at an unauthorized shipping address, lol.

...

Actually I was plan to buy 2 GTX Titan Z to replace 2 GTX 690 but this thread make me feel that if I make it I'll be fool :(

Then I'm glad this thread was able to help, because you would be a fool to needlessly waste your money on buying this card, let alone more than one of them.

I can kind of understand if you don't have enough PCIe ports available to use more than 2 cards (though one could argue that with the money saved from not wasting it on 2 Titan Zs, you could build another high-end computer that does have enough PCIe ports available), but with a Titan Z costing a half again more than two cards with the same GPUs, memory, and somewhat higher performance, which are made by the same manufacturer, it's madness.

No offense to EVGA, as they are the front man in this and do a great job with what they have to work with.

Yeah, I went with 2 Titan Black Superclocked cards (ordered Friday along with some other upgrades), and I only went with these instead of 2 780 Ti Superclocked cards because I do a lot of computing/crunching, not just gaming, on this computer, nearly 24/7/365.242.

The Titan Z is a sad joke Nvidia is playing on us all. I never thought I'd see the day when a video card manufacturer actively and intentionally trolls its customers just because it can. It's like an infomercial gone horribly wrong. "But wait! You can spend even more and get absolutely nothing for it! Isn't that amazing?!"

I can't imagine someone who have money and want to upgrade GTX690 still didn't try Titan Black in SLI.
Buy better Titan Black SC SLI and put under water you will see huge improvement over GTX690 special in newest games on 2560x1440 resolution.

The PC i was plan to upgrade its for my 19 years old son
Intel Core i7-3970X
Asus RIVE
2x gtx 690
Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB
Cooler Master Silent Pro Hybrid 1300w

For my reasons I always prefer to buy from amazon.com
So I want to upgrade to 4 way SLI EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN Black
Which I cant find it by list price in amazon the price is 1250 $ and if I do that I find my self need to buy new PSU CORSAIR AX1500i 1500W it cost $621.99
So 1250 $ x 4 and the psu 621.99 =  5621.99 $
Or 2 x gtx titan z cost 5999.98 $ and keep my PSU

I have another 2 PC gtx titan 4 way sli with 4k monitor & gtx 780 ti 3 way sli on 2560x 1600 monitor

Your son is very lucky guy.

EVGA Titan Black SC with 100MHz higher clock cost 1199MHz on Amazon and I think it's best Titan Black option on market because 100MHz higher clock is not small distance on such monster and on 4 cards even better.
1299$ is Signature option. One nice package.

It's not just that it's way overpriced; it's that it's ridiculously (nonsensically) way overpriced, when two cards (which are also made by Nvidia) with the same GPUs and memory combined in SLI cost $1000 USD less and outperform the Titan Z and its on-board SLI.

I understand paying a little more of a premium for high-end performing cards, but that isn't the case with the Titan Z where you're actually paying way more (+$1000 USD) for a little less performance.

As mentioned above, the only thing I can conclude from this is that Nvidia is intentionally trolling their customers.

I am so glad I pulled the trigger on purchasing [2] EVGA Titan Black SC Signature Editions instead of the many other possible GPU solutions, especially the Titan-Z.

^^^ Yep my 780Ti's with full EK Waterblocks are flying along just fine....guess there close to $900 ea with Waterblocks as well.......

So I want to upgrade to 4 way SLI EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN Black

Or 2 x gtx titan z cost 5999.98 $ and keep my PSU

Now that would be like flushing $1.2K down the toilet imho...the gains in 4 Way SLi are brutal and in some case the gameplay is worse than Tri SLi.....I've had a number of Tri SLi set ups and I can see going that route...but 4 Cards is worthless...

congratulations, nice shopping. For me that was too expensive card.
I saw 2450MB memory usage in Crysis 2007 with several high resolution pack, water, texture, trees, grass, leaves,...Nano suite pack from Crysis 2,...on 1920x1080. I can't remember how I play that with HD5870 2GB and GTX580, I think with GTX580 I didn't try at all...

Me too.  I saw two Titan Black Hydro Copper Signature @$1399 each at Amazon a little over 2 weeks ago and bought them immediately, and even with the $124 express shipping cost to Hong Kong it's still cheaper than a regular Titan Z.  And not to mention that the Hdyro Coppers are really nice; both of mine boost to 1176mhz at stock.

Re: Introducing the EVGA GeForce GTZ Titan Z 2014/06/18 04:42:46 (permalink)
the price inflation for what it actually is along with the detriment of two chips on one pcb ( heat, power limitations , oc limitations ) really make me wonder, why?

for your average user who wants to plug and play, sure,

but considering several games dont use both gpus at this point ( check frankies hardline stream ) and the basic facts of power supply to the gpu's and limitations created by powering two gpu's on one pcb make me think any 780ti sli setup could out perform this in any situation where vram  capacity is not the bottleneck...

Yeah i want one of these, don't like my gtx 780's in 2-way sli anymore, i want to get rid of em some time soon, problem i have had with 2 cards is space in pc case leaves very tight space for a decent dedicated seperate sound card - heat can be a slight problem in warmer climate, but noise from both gpu's isn't too bad really i was impressed with the low noise levels at night time. Just can't afford one right now.

I just looked at a 295X just for the heck of it and noticed the thing comes with a factory water cooler. That is when you know that card is a disaster waiting to happen. I knew it ran hot but.... wow. Titan Z could have been amazing if it was 1500 $.....  Ah well.

AMD could completely destroy selling of Titan Black and TITAN Z if want. NVIDIA selling is in their hand.
In Europe at this moment people could find R9-295X for 1200e. That's for people same as 1200-1300$ in USA.
Only god know why they keep higher price than for two Hawaill when R9-290X reference cost somewhere 450e.
I mean R9-295X as card is nothing, you need to replace cooler, but for Titan Z price you can build custom loop and R9-295X CF with Koolance waterblock, together with D5 pump, 360mm radiator, tubes, fittings,...everything and single card is same performance as Titan Z.

I've had to check the pricing out a few times just to ensure it's real. I make a decent living and there's no way in the world I'd be paying 3k for a graphics card, that's simply insane.

I can understand paying a premium for higher performance, and would maybe consider paying this much for a graphics card if I felt that the higher performance was worth it. So, to each their own in that regard.

The thing that blows my mind though is that this card doesn't offer better performance potential than 2 Titan Blacks in any way (feel free to correct me if I'm missing something here), but costs $1000 USD more than them.

It's pretty much ludicrous that anyone would buy this card, though with that being said, I'm sure there are some that have/will.

The only reasonable conclusion I can get from this is that Nvidia is intentionally trolling their customers just to see what they can get away with. There's also a chance that it exists at this price to make people feel better about spending $1000 for a Titan Black, to push those more. Well, Nvidia, I decided to get my 2 EVGA Titan Black Superclocked cards before learning the price of the Titan Z. (As I've said before: No offense to EVGA. I'm sure their hands are tied in this pricing scheme.)

Sorry if I'm coming across as being overly critical or negative, but I feel this kind of response is more than justified.

...

Edit: And sorry for repeating myself. It's been a little while since my last post in this thread.

The thing that blows my mind though is that this card doesn't offer better performance potential than 2 Titan Blacks in any way (feel free to correct me if I'm missing something here), but costs $1000 USD more than them.
Oh you and many already know what you're missing, you just dismiss them because you don't care:
  • Dual-GPU cards take up less space and use less power than a pair of single-GPU variants-- that has always been the only reason for their premiums; performance isn't the only litmus.
  • People are reacting to Titan Z no differently than a console user would to our gaming PC systems.  Yes, you can justify spending 3-4 times as much for features that don't matter to console users (like quality and frame rates), but the point-of-view of those ranting against you is more important.  Just like your idea of worth is more important that what Titan Z owners think...and not what they get out of it.

I do however believe the price point should be lower. Normally I have understood NVIDIA's marketing very well but this time I am a bit perplexed.

Nvidia fail for pricing

I Agree Prices getting out of hand. Before long you'll have to win lottery to game with these cards. Oh by the way Lepron the card is a 3 slot card so how does it save space ? over 2 titan blacks .

Only a very small percentage of the computing power (both Watts and FLOPS) of my computer goes toward gaming (though that isn't to say that I don't often game on it), so I'm not really sure how consoles are relevant, nor was I aware that console users are ranting against me. Also, I wouldn't disagree that users of console systems and more cost effective gaming PCs wouldn't be justified in having the opinion that the cost of my computer isn't worth it to them.

Granted this is just my opinion (and likely also the opinion of the majority of high-end PC users, builders, and enthusiasts who are knowledgeable about the specs of the Titan Z), so take that as you will, but hopefully you can at least understand my amazement and confusion toward the entirely unprecedented pricing of the Titan Z, especially considering its lower performance potential. Considering that the Titan Z isn't a highly efficient card in regard to power consumption and that it especially isn't cost effective, just maybe you can also understand the rationale for my thinking that paying $1000 USD to use one of four less slots space-wise or one less PCIe slot and to use a little less power is rather excessive to say the least.

That some people are willing to pay this much for the Titan Z is less surprising to me than that Nvidia actually has the audacity to charge this much for it. Individuals don't have the same kind of PR to try and manage for buying a Titan Z as Nvidia has for trying to sell it to them.

The point of bringing console into this argument is only to show that those that spend less than us react the same way as we would to those that spend more than us; we are not one to talk as if we make the smartest purchases compared to everyone else.  Titan Z owners can say we're all cheap while console owners can say we have more money than brains, it goes both ways.  Alas, too many here believe their budgets are in some kind of Goldilocks Zone which fills them up with so much pride that they get defensive when others don't honor it.

In order for me to agree that Titan Z is overpriced, I have to dismiss someone else's idea of worth as if they don't know what they want while I don't even know or care what they do-- why bother having such an ignorant opinion?  That is a level of egotistical narcissism I can't even tolerate reading on these forums when I see it, i.e. when someone has the nerve to suggest a particular low-end component isn't "meant for gaming".

It makes me warm and fuzzy inside at the thought of Nvidia actually losing money over this. Cash spent to develop the card but it's price point ensures next to no one purchases it. Maybe they'll get a clue when they post some losses this or next quarter concerning this card in particular.

I love their hardware, but corporate is insane.
