Got it.  Is there any settings I can change to increase my BF4 performance?

Yeah, like I said get your CPU overclock done and then tested

Your BF4 video options panel should be

LEFT HAND side options COMPLETELY at DEFAULTS---> except for screen res and refresh

RIGHT HAND side options----> Preset CUSTOM (do NOT use anything else)
All options to HIGHEST setting possible -except--> Antialiasing POST to OFF

*for good bump in FPS--->turn HBAO to OFF
*for good bump in fps--->turn MSAA to x2 MSAA
*for small bump in FPS---> turn EFFECTS post processing to HIGH

First of all the 337.61 or whatever the newest driver passed 337.50 is stay the hell away from. I had to completely wipe my harddrive and tons of other people have had nothing but issues with them. (Tomshardware.com has them available for download) 2nd I have never heard of doing anything in that specific order ever. Matter of fact my precisionX wont even work until I install nvidia drivers so not sure why that would matter one way or the other. 3rd I have ALWAYS Installed my gpu graphics and sound drivers first with a few times thrown in doing the mobo drivers first but I have I ha e NEVER had a single issue. By that logic you would need to uninstall graphics drivers before installing a new game then reinstall them after the new game was Installed, thats just how that logic sounds to me. Either way it sounds like a setting is off somewhere. Only time I have ever had video card issues was when I tried to go to the newest drivers after the already beta 337.50 that supposedly was fixing some 4k stuff mainly. I guess im just trying to understand your methodical process as I have never seen ir heard of doing things this way.

Thats why you report that you had such problems with a GREAT Nvidia driver..... user error.

You had to format your hard drive and reinstall your OS over a graphics driver install?
You should read up and pay attention on how things work, nobody is having problems worth reporting (except for the VM bug, now patched in .61)
I have not heard -any- bad reports about the 337.50-.61 set from experienced users...

You would not have had any issues or problems like that AT ALL--> if you had payed attention to the details and understood your installed software

The biggest problem today, is everyones software works fine by itself. But because so much of it interacts with "other" software, serious problems can and do occur.
The trick is to pay attention to the details, to avoid such problems

In this users case, he just needed to recover from some install and settings mistakes.
You could have probably done the same, instead of reformatting....

Given your description, sounds like you just corrupted your Precision file.
The fix for that is quite easy, and is posted in this thread

No I had to reformat because after my sli not working anymore having to go Into safemode just to get the drivers to uninstall then getting failed errors trying to reinstall the whql drivers and the 337.50 drivers then having to do a system restore because windows wasnt recognizing the new drivers then it wouldn't recognize my sli bridge so I could not enable sli. I have pretty much always used evga products granted this being my first sli setup but until I did the driver update just like I would do any driver update not using geforce experience my system was running sound without issues. My failure was figuring a new driver update coulnt hurt any so why not go for it. Didnt have precision running nore any other software besides browser and windows 8.1. I was just trying to understand your method becuase in all my years of building computers I've never seen that methodology and maybe I've just been lucky all these years. Either way after a fresh windows install which didnt hurt me any because this is a gaming only pc I reinstalled everything as I normally would and am happily running 337.50 without issues in sli.

Besides a fresh install takes me maybe 15 minutes and another 5-10 minutes to reinstall drivers and software like precisionX. Games are a different story though lol as they are rather large but I dont notice the time it takes while im sleeping.

Yep, sounds like just a corrupted Precision, followed by breaking the Nvidia install in safe mode, and then likely a stealth Default Windows WHQL on reboot ...
Quite the mess

And -of course- most likely all of this on the days old Win 8.1 patch
I didnt put the BETA on my Win 8.1 install... I am waiting out its (Win 8) patch condition after reading up
And when I do, all programs (like Precision) that are injected into the Nvidia driver, will be uninstalled and saved data removed and the system REBOOTED -before- attempting the install...and I will not have any browsers or programs open or running

This was the first time I have ever had issues. Only reason I went into safemode was because the drivers would not install any other way. Even tried repairing them and nothing. This driver update was done the same as 337.50 and whql and only this one gave issues. Perhaps it had something to do with the new patch or whatever but it was faster and easier just to clean Install.

You really have no idea what your doing wrong or how some of the software you are using works...

Thats why your having such problems

Im not anymore that was a 1 time deal. I've always had precision installed when I update drivers. Perhaps its just something that CAN happen but doesnt always. I dont know. Perhaps I'll give it another go with precisionX uninstalled this time.

What programs do you usually use for -stress- and to monitor temps?

I just ran AIDA64 (trial version) for 1hr 37mins and got an hardware failure message (test stopped), but nothing seems out of whack.  No shutdown, BSOD, nothing.  Temps are around 76C, everything else looks good.  Same setup I had before... 4.5ghz @1.248V.  Looks like a processing hiccup from the threads I was reading.

AIDA64 is a program that "can" conflict with Precision AND Nvidia drivers
--->It is something that you should -uninstall- and reboot once after using.

"Temps are around 76C.."   Is this whats reported at idle on the desktop? or after load.. what was MIN and MAX?

AIDA64 test run 1hr 37mins min 29C max 82C.  Ran Intel burn test (which I don't really care for) and BSOD @ "High" stress level (2gb ram).  Adjusted voltage to 1.275V, ran it again and passed.  Max temp using Core Temp reported 91C max during test strat and ran test @ 88C, idle at 30C in desktop.  Uninstalled all these Stress tests and Core Temp. Now I just have to use something like Prime95 or run AIDA64 again.

But you still failed out with a "hardware error" right?

Yes.  AIDA64 "Test failed-Hardware failure".  As mentioned above, I ran Intel Burn Test and made some voltage adjustments in order to pass.  Need to run AIDA64 again.

Forever? just how long was this?

The driver is a BETA and thus it is NOT signed
During the install process a box will pop up asking if you want to ALLOW the install of a "Unsigned" driver, you MUST give it permission to do so.

Did you just leave it running or (god forbid) shut it down during the install?

You never want to leave a running computer with a new driver install, as you have no idea what might occur due to config issues.
-------------------------

This is why you should start your own thread -and- not be in such a hurry.
You never posted your system specs, OS version and monitor details
You never identified the REASON for your original install problems with the same driver, so you may have overlooked a serious conflict or problem.

Running the installer in this situation without leaving enough time to troubleshoot if problems cropped up, was a mistake

15-20 minutes and no boxes popped up. I did list the operating system and mentioned running sli. I'll start my own thread then. Just seemed pointless when someone else was doing the same driver install and having similar issues as me.

15-20mins -and- no box asking to load a unsigned driver--> means something is very very wrong.

I have to go to sleep. I will be back in 4-5 hrs

So, final results: Stable OC @4.5ghz 1.280V, temps are good.

BF4 64 player match, preset Ultra, VSync on 58-60fps
Crysis 3 on Ultra settings 4x MSAA runs great
Titanfall all settings maxed = 60fps

Everything is running great!

maniacvvv, I want to thank you for all your help and time.  It is much appreciated.  I may OC the cards at a later date, but for now I just wanna relieve some stress and play a few games.  I will get back with you sometime in the future when I am ready to do that.

I do have one more quick question.  I have that 780 ti K|NGP|N Classified sitting here.  You think that will run better with my current setup, or just keep my 760s?

Your most welcome

By the "benchmark" numbers, the Kingpin is about equal to two 760's...
But if your only running 1920x1080, 760's SLI has more balls when gaming

You will find that after running SLI, single card configs "feel" weaker

Of course dual Kingpins is AWESOME
-->Personally given the huge Maxwell delay (late 2015) the 6gig 780Ti or 6gig 780 Classy are looking like THE cards to have a pair of

I just added a 2nd 780 every thing seemed to be working good the 780s was working at 50-50 but in tomb raider it would do the benchmark but would freeze up in game did the new drivers now the cards are working  at like 6o-40 and  didn't  fix tomb raider  I had to turn down the anti- aliasing to make it work in sli any ideas how to get back to 50-50

Just wanted to say thank you to maniacvvv, I have been having FPS / core drops since going SLI 6 weeks ago, fps would drop to 20 in almost all games every minute or so.

I had tried quite literally everything until this.

Thank you, you are a legend !!
