Hello, I did the step up and chose the SKU that ended with 85. However, it said I can upgrade to the SKU that ended in 87. And so, I did that upgrade. Is that okay, Robb? Thanks!

I just bought an EVGA GTX 780 SC 3GB w/ ACX Cooler  on March 3rd, 2014.  I registered the card and uploaded my invoice.  I wanted to apply for the Step-Up program for the 6GB version, but when I checked my account it said under the details in "My Account" that this product is not available for Step-Up.  I'm assuming my card doesn't qualify (not sure why they used the term available) for the Step-Up program from this statement.  Is there an exclusion with my specific card (SC model)?

I think you have to use the sign up page instead of My Account.

Oh....so the 6GB "step up" program is different process than their normal "step up" process?  hmmm.
Looking at their U.S. Step-Up list on the page, I see that the highest GPU Step-Up is the GTX 780 w/ ACX and mine is already a step up from that with the SC version.

Lucky for Europeans, owners can Step-Up to a GTX 780 Ti it seems.

So since it says a step-up is not available for my card, I'm assuming it's basing it on their current list which does not include the 6GB versions yet.)
I already  signed up for the 6GB Step-Up program on the main sign up page so I guess I just have to wait for their email reponse since I'm in the que.

Regarding my concern..... this is from the steps I followed from their support page where I was able to check if my card qualifies:
  1. Request to start your Step-Up within 90 days of your original purchase from your product detail page
    1. Navigate to  under Member Home
    2. Click on View Details of the product
    3. If your product qualifies, you will see the option to start your Step-Up

Yes, the cards have not been released yet so you can not do a Step-Up at the moment. The list is an alert that will tell you when they are available so you can activate the Step-Up and get in the queue. It IS NOT automatic.

I just received an email from the evga step-up que saying that the promotion has now started.  I followed instructions to get to my product and when I click on "details" it still says that my product is not available to step-up.  I also looked on the step-up list and it has been updated but I guess it still appears there is no existing upgrade with my "version" of my card to the 6GB.  Can someone from EVGA help me out here?  Since the GTX 780 SC is not on the list, as I suspected, can I just step up to the regular GTX 780 6GB and pay the difference?  Thanks.

Does this update also relates to the Hydro series? Just - and I mean just purchased the 780 hydro 3 gb - and was going to buy one more for sli. Now I will wait until Hydro is available in 6 GB- as I believe that performance of 6 gb is double the 3 gb? I also believe that a 3 gb wont do sli with a 6 gb?

I was told by Jacob that there are no plans to release a HC version at this time. That doesn't mean it will never happen, but for now, no plans.

No, the performance is not doubled (a common misconception by many). You would likely see no perceptible difference, unless gaming at very high resolutions, and even then...or doing some Graphics work that specifically uses that RAM.

A 6 SLI'd with a 3 will only utilize 3, so no.

So, if its true, there are no "perceptible difference" I´d rather stay with my 3gb 780 hydro - and buy one more (as prices are surely dropping for 3 gb versions soon) - instead of going through the hassel that the step-up program is asking.

InWin S-Frame, i7-6700K delid @ 4.8 GHz, 16GB  Corsair Dominator DDR4, 2666 MHz, Samsung M.2 NVMe 951 250GB, Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD, Samsung 850 Pro 500GB, WD Black, 2TB, ASUS Maximus Formula Viii,  2 way SLI EVGA GTX 980ti Hydro Copper, -  Win 10 PRO 64. Hello All,

Hello everyone, 780 6GB cards are now available for Step-Up!

Thanks,
Rob

Can we expect reference style coolers on the 780 6GB & 780ti 6GB?

Need to know that too. Had 4 Acx coolers and everyone was bad with scribbling etc. I dont want to use that cooler.

Is there any confirmation on a 6GB Ti yet? I have a single Classified 780 Ti but would like to SLI 2x6GB models if they become available during my step-up eligibility (~85 days).

@ Ghettotronix,

It looks like you did not register your card within 14 days.  As such, you will need to purchase an extended warranty in order to be able to use the Step-Up program.  This can be purchased on your product details page.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thanks,
Rob

Nothing like this has been announced and I don't believe NVIDIA would wish to compete with a 6GB 780ti versus a GTX Titan Black. However NVIDIA has surprised me on more than one occasion.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Exactly.  I am just going to get another Classified 780 and SLI.  You can get the after market water blocks too if you find it is cheaper to do it that way.  EVGA sells the blocks on the website even.  I decided to run only a 1440P or 1600P single monitor so I shouldn't need more than 3 GB for a while.  Even my 1 GB card from another vendor still performs admirably.

So, does anyone know if the 6GB versions will use be able to use the current 780 water blocks? Didn't see an answer on the air fan question earlier on if it was the same reference design. If the extra memory still fits under the current water blocks, I'll wait and make my own hydro from the 6GB versions.

According to Jacob over on OCN, the memory density is increased, not the number of chips so the same waterblocks should work. For reference: http://www.overclock.net/...l/650_50#post_22128860

well just started my step up going from a 3GB classified to 6GB SC. I love the classified but doesn't seem like a good overclocker to be honest.

@Jacob Wil there be a backplates for the 6 GB GTX 780 SC  ?

I'm wondering the same thing, I've already sent out my 3GB 780 for the step up. I really hope my backplate will fit the new one that arrives, I'm expecting it will though.

I'd like to know as well, as the card I'm trading in *isn't* a 780. Also, can I send back the backplates for my card used in the Step-Up? Have 2, both unused (plastic film still on and everything!) as my build hasn't yet been completed. Would be awesome if I could get credit for those too! But I understand if that's not an option.

Been lurking the forum for some time now. Just wanted to say I was able to step up from a 770 sc acx to the 780 sc acx. Actually sent out my 770 yesterday with 2 day shipping.  I plan on getting a 1440 monitor this summer. Was the difference in my investment worth it? Also, does anyone know what the turn around time is for when the EVGA sends out the step up card?

How is the Airflow in your case?  Are you hitting temp issues for your OC or voltage issues?

Still no answer to whether there will be a reference style cooler design?

Many of us have asked this already and with no answer...

Or is evga sticking with ACX coolers for the 6gb 780 & 6gb 780ti? Palit seems to only be releasing a Jetstream 6gb version and no reference cooler design, too.

not at all... i have an old cast but it's modded and don't keep the side panel on at all. have 3 front 120 fans, 2 120 exaughst and CPU is watercooled. the classified imho is a joke and gimmik i think. there are ppl with normal 780's that kill my overclock. this is coming from a gtx 680 2GB to a Classy and well pretty disappointed which is why i am trying to do this fckn step up and hope get a better card that is great.

the dbl bios is amazing but rest of card is a joke so, hoping for better performance and overclock.

Hi Robb

Will the step-up program sign-ups open again soon?

They are currently closed.

evga_robbHello All, Hello everyone, 780 6GB cards are now available for Step-Up!  Thanks,
Rob

Can we expect reference style coolers on the 780 6GB & 780ti 6GB?

Need to know that too. Had 4 Acx coolers and everyone was bad with scribbling etc. I dont want to use that cooler.

EVGA keeps dodging this question...
Typically, a newly released card has always had a reference cooler released first then ACX or specialty versions released afterwards.
Nvidia probably gave the OK to EVGA & Palit to make a 6gb version but with the agreement they don't f-up their reference version?

elios
so just pulled the trigger on a 780Tiam i screwed on stepping up to 6GB ?

Don't bother stepping up. If you look at reviews of the Titan Black (virtually a 6gb 780ti) vs a 3gb 780ti there is no difference. Even at high resolutions. Even most recent reviews of the new Radeon 295x2 (4gb x 2) vs a Titan or 780ti at high surround resolutions the Nvidia cards are not as good. Keep in mind the Radeon only has 1gb more of ram than your 780ti. Its only at 2560x1440 and under is when Nvidia pulls ahead. So with 3gb or 6gb there will not be much difference as you'll most likely run out of gpu horsepower before you hit the ram cap. This of course excludes modded games like Skyrim, but this goes back you'll almost always run out of gpu hp before running out of gpu memory.
