I originally wanted to go with these

But they're outdated and overpriced. So i've used these before and they perform great. They're also 69 dollars cheaper and faster for 24GB. Will the SR2 have any issues running these in TRI?

    Hello,

You can find a full list of tested and supported memory for the SR2. As you can see that the memory kit in question is not on the list so unfortunately we can not guarantee that they will work with no issues, especially at its manufacturers rated frequencies. There may be some forum members that have tried this kit and may be able to confirm if they work or not.

Thanks James. I wasn't expecting it to run at all over ddr3 2000 speeds but Just didn't want to waste money on older Dominator ram

To achieve 2GHz on RAM you will need to run bclk at 200, which you are unlikely to achieve stably. You will find major clock and timer instabilities beyond 180 bclk, and you should really be getting ECC RAM to help detect stability issues. Registered DIMMs also tend to be more stable at higher speeds.

IMO there is no point in getting RAM beyond DDR3-1800 for the SR-2, and if you manage to by some miracle get it stable for more than the CPU-Z screenshot and a benchmark result above 180, most decent RAM will OC a little.

Personally, I like my margin for error so I run bclk at 166 at full 10x RAM multiplier with ECC RDIMMs (12x8GB).

Appreciate the reply Gordon. I dont plan on running the memory at even DDR3 2000 speeds. I'm just considering the faster memory because its cheaper than the 1600 memory. :)

I just wanted to make sure this memory wont have any issues running on the board

I doubt it will as I have used non verified mem on other EVGA boards before, just make sure it isn't less than 1.45v

Why? I run my 96GB of 1.35V DIMMs @ 1.35V without any problems.

Appreciate the reply Gomez. Picked up 24GB of 2133 for 209.99 with coupon. Will be nice if i can get some great timings at 1600 with it.

Mostly a safe guard, some memory controllers don't like going beneath a certain voltage, in your case you were fine but it can vary

Depends on the memory controller. The lower the voltage the better

Depends too, some memory controllers can't function with DDR3L DIMMs

This is an SR-2 forum. MCs on Xeons compatible with the SR-2 work just fine with 1.35V DIMMs even when using 12x8GB DIMMs. Other MCs are completely irrelevant in this thread. Not to mention that practically all 1.35V DIMMs work just fine at 1.5V if you really need them to.
