I just installed a new eVGA GTX 750 Ti SC GPU on my ASUS M5A88-V EVO MB and can't get any signal to the monitor.  Reinserting the card I'm replacing (a 9800 GT) results in the display coming up fine.

I've attempted the following troubleshooting things:
1) disabled the onboard VGA controller
2) updated the MB bios to the latest version
3) reset the CMOS
4) removed all other PCI-e boards (a pair of 3ware 9650)

Power supply is an Antec 550W unit, so I should have plenty of power.

Before I ship return the card, I thought I'd see if anyone here has experience using this GPU in this MB?  I don't have another computer handy to test the GPU in, so it's difficult to say whether this is an incompatibility or a dead GPU.

Thanks!

Try removing the driver for the 9800 with it in, shut down when it restarts, put in the 750Ti...

At this point you are looking at either a bad video card and or the motherboard not seeing the video card correctly still. Do you have another computer you can try the video card in? This would help verify where the problem might reside.

If the motherboard has a lagacy mode setting please use that

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    1) This isn't an OS driver problem.  I get no signal to the monitor, even at POST.  No MB splash screen, no RAM initialization screen, etc.  Swapping back in my 9800GT and everything is fine.
    2) No other computer handy to test the board in.  That would be a nice solution.

    3) I don't see an option in the ASUS bios for legacy mode.

The BIOS I installed yesterday is dated 12/19/2013.  I read elsewhere that a very recent BIOS (e.g. a couple of months) might be required to support the 750.  Is that really true?  I was under the impression that PCI-e was all backwards compatible.  If true, any recommendations for a somewhat older, quiet card that's more up to date than my 9800GT?  I'd like to keep the price around $150 or less.

FWIW, I also tried putting the card in the secondary PCI-e slot (full length, but only 4X) and got the same result.  No display signal at POST.
