You call that a crash, I think 9$ was much closer to a crash. That just looks normal to me when coins are recovering.

Wolf, 13.85 to flat 12 is a significant dump/crash.  Everyone one on btc-e is like O_o!  Another exchange got hacked again that was found out yesterday and millions were lost.  Current speculation is that it shouldn't be a huge factor like MT. Gox but will have a impact as the graph shows that I posted.  
 
Now we have a bunch of good news that did come in the last 24hrs which is why the crash/dump wasn't so impact full.  So only time will tell.

I think most that mine keep a pretty close track of what is going on so no real need to report every little dip or rise.
One or two dollars one way or the other is no big deal to most of us. I've seem LTC at $48 and now at $9 it'll get
back up there. Will just have to wait it out or sell at what ever price feels good for those who don't wish to hold.

+1 if it was like a $10 - $30 difference I would be interested, but $1 - $3 no big deal.

unfortunately, it cant become the defacto basis because in reality, currency is just a vehicle to pay taxes with. There will always be some form of 'cash' or alternative that is able to skirt the system, but unless the IRS starts taking it as a form of payment then it wont be mainstream ever. the future will probably be paperless and digital but wont involve mining or any way of generation or appreciation outside of the normal FED manipulation. It can be used in an autonomous community to trade between themselves, but as long as there is a government then it will never be more than a paypal alternative. Right now the reason the IRS has tagged it as property is because of the Ponzi nature of it at the moment. What I mean by that is that its like playing hot potato. last guy holding the bag loses. Not that the stock market isn't similar, but the governments and lobbyists have firm control of that. I just am making the most of what we can do with it now for fun and profit, but I certainly don't think it will do anything for my retirement unless I cash out and convert to fiat.
