I was having a black screen and then the nvidia drivers would recover. note that this problem has been going on with the previous drivers also but with no bsod. I just installed the new beta drivers and this is what i'm getting:

BTW I had a lock up 1st before the BSOD. After the lock up it followed with a black screen then no signal, then the BSOD.
It only happens while gaming in mmo's
from what i can tell so far.

It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 337.50 , NVIDIA Corporation)

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the topic general suggestions for troubleshooting system crashes for more information.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is actually responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

    Hello,
I apologize for the issues you are experiencing. There are a few things we would like to try to further diagnose the issue. To rule out any power issues, making sure that all power connectors are secure and re-seating the card to insure proper connection. Please go to your BIOS going to hardware monitor. Monitoring the +12v reading which should be a constant between 11.6-12.4. Any irregular or fluctuations of anything greater than .05 readings may be a sign of power source failure.Granted these readings only show the system at an idle state but it will give us a bit better idea of the condition of the power supply.
Next is to manually remove ALL driver files by booting into safe mode going to Control Panel > Program Features and uninstalling all Nvidia components to avoid any possible driver conflicts. Then re-installing the most current drivers but selecting the Custom(Advanced) Option then checking the "Perform a Clean Install" box just to be thorough.
Please keep us updated with the results of your testing so we can further assist you. If you have any concerns or further questions the best way to get support is by contacting Tech Support team at 888-881-3842 24/7.
    Regards,
    EVGA

That certainly sounds like a possible conflict between your iGPU and Nvidia drivers...

Your MB supports "Lucid Virtu Universal MVP" which is a software to run both Nvidia and Intel GPU drivers
This -must- be disabled as it does NOT work correctly.

You need to post up your exact config details, including monitor setup
Also post how you installed Windows 8
The program you are using to post your hardware is outdated and corrupted, it should be removed from your system...
*unless you ARE running a VM
    -------------------------------------------------

Make sure that ONE monitor is connected to ONLY the videocard
make sure that the onboard GPU is disabled (read your MB manual)
make sure that any iGPU (intel) drivers are NOT loading at boot (these are (2) Intel common user interface drivers)

How much experience to you have running Windows 8?
Did you do last weeks 8.1 "update"?

Thank you for the responses. I did the following:
Updated the firmware version of my 670 to the latest shown on the sticky
    Got 2 new sticks of dual ram 8gb G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop
new PSU Corsair CX750M  its modular so like it anyways compared to the diablotek
I also checked on bios for the voltage:
    +12 ----12.144 v
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
After this i basically ran teso and had no BSOD so far.
I did get a black screen with ff xiv Arr, but i had these black screens before even getting the psu and ram.
I did some benchmarks and system ran stable  with: Furmark, OCCT, Unigine Heaven Benchmark. I also got the tomb raider game since it was 8 bucks and ran the game maxed with tressfx and ssaox4 (not in 1080p to keep stable performance).
I updated to windows 8.1 yes and got the latest update from microsoft. I also did a virus scan in safe mode just to be sure is not something nasty.

I still need to get in the motherboard and change the settings with the igp then and see what happens also.
I'm using an element hdtv over hdmi, under the nvidia control panel its comes as hitachi.
Max temperature according to precission x is 72c while gaming.
I will do a clean install of the nvidia drivers again in safe mode, been using ddu version 12.6.3 i got this from the nvidia forums:
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/550192/geforce-drivers/display-driver-uninstaller-ddu-v12-6-4-released-04-11-14-/

keep in mind that i was having the black screens with ffxiv arr even before using ddu.

    currently using nvidia driver 337.50

Again thank you for the responses it makes me feel better knowing there is a community alive and kicking helping out. :D

Good to see you're not receiving a BSOD anymore. The black screen problem with ffxiv arr may be happening because the GPU is unstable with that game, to correct the black screen you could try doing the following...

Downclock GPU using EVGA Precision X.

Set both GPU Clock Offset & Mem Clock Offset to -105 using the latest version of precision x. If you can't set both to -105 using the latest version of precision x download the older version here. If your GPU is unstable in any way this will help stabilize it.

NOTE: Make sure to uninstall the latest version of precision x before installing the older version, you must select "NO" to saving profiles & reboot the PC before installing the older version, you will need to follow these steps again when re-installing the latest version.

If you're no longer receiving a black screen in ffxiv arr after downclocking your GPU you should RMA the card. The video card should be 100% stable @ stock clocks in all games without having to downclock the GPU to gain stability.

Thank you for responding Sajin. So the question is can a specific  game make the card unstable even tho everything else is running fine? If so that is so weird. I uninstalled FFxiv arr and canceled the sub but i still have 16 days left maybe i should download it again and see if it still happens. And this is my bios settings for the north bridge config(advanced config):

    vt-d cap------------------not supported
    PGA---------------------PCI Express
    share memory--------------auto
IGPU multimonitor-------------disabled(i changed this to disable)
    render standby -------------------enabled

No problem. A specific game or benchmark shouldn't make the card unstable, all games & benchmarks do use the GPU differently though, nothing the card shouldn't be able to handle at default clocks speeds. Any crashing, black screening caused by games or benchmarks @ default clocks that can be corrected by downlocking the GPU indicate the GPU is unstable and needs to be RMA'd.

Ok i downclocked the graphic card by 105 MHz each, ran FF xiv ARR for 3 hours, then got a crash to a white screen, then the drivers recovered but i had no sound any longer. I kept playing finishing a quest 1st before exiting the game. I got 2 of these in event viewer:

Have you ever been able to run ffxiv arr for three hours before? Or were the crashes more frequent at stock clocks?

    Re: 670 BSOD 2014/04/17 15:20:22 (permalink)
Its random, sometimes i can run it for more than 3 hours. But now it did so in 3 hours.
I downloaded a DM Log Collector that picks everything from the PC.  At stock clocks is about the same. I can try and run the game with lowest settings for troubleshooting purposes and report back the results after. I'm wondering if the TDR might have something to do with it. I also saw some posts on other forums where some background processes were the culprit.

This is from a user that had some issues with TDR:

    http://social.technet.mic...?forum=w8itprohardware

    Andre,
"Yes. like I mention in my message last Monday, I changed the registry to 8. I am not getting the screen blinks and the message that the display driver is not responding and it has recovered. It does still come up with IE events in the log.
So far so good, just wondered if the 13.6 Beta addressed the display timeout issues."
    Ernie

    ------------------------
He supposedly fixed by changing some settings for tdr.

But who knows maybe its a software conflict while playing this game.

Do you experience crashing in any other games or benchmarks other than FF? If not it's probably the game. You could try doing the TDR adjustment along with performing a clean boot of windows to clean up background processes for testing.

Perform a clean boot of windows.
    Follow the instructions HERE.

When performing the clean boot should i keep the nvidia driver running to test it with the game while other drivers are disabled?

I did so in safe mode. I have not done the TDR yet. So i will now change this setting and see what happens.

I have noticed crashing on FF when I tried the game for a bit, ran into random crashing, turned out that I just needed to re install .netframework 4.5. This resolve my crashing. With my friends rig we had to role his drivers back a few until this game was stable again.

    Thanks for responding.
I just did the tdrdelay value under registry. Will test run the game again. And i will keep in mind your advice. I just can't think that is the GPU since everything else runs fine. If i got the blackscreen with furmark or any benchmarks, or other games then i would likely think that is the gpu.

It seems that the black screen issue is something that nvidia is trying to reciprocate.

ManuelG "It looks like we have finally been able to figure out which changelist introduced this behavior and finally have a fix that we have tested and verify works. This fix will be in our next driver release. As such, I am going to unpin this thread."

There is also this from microsoft:

Maybe this might relate to my problem but maybe not. In the meantime I will keep testing that specific game that causes the black screen.

Since you're only experiencing this problem with ffxiv arr I would suggest reporting this black screen issue with ffxiv arr to nVidia, nVidia bug sumbission, you can file your report there.
