If I SLI 2, 660s GTX (not Ti), do they have to be the exact same model? Or any GTX (non-Ti) will be fine? Do clock speeds need to match I guess is what it comes down to. Thanks
(model I have is the 03G-P4-2664-KR)

    Hello,

Welcome to our forums. The 2 main requirements for SLI configuration is that both cards must have the same amount of memory and the same exact gpu core. That being said as long as the second card as 3gigs of video memory and is a non Ti model you should have no issues, different clock speeds and even card design should be of no concern.

    Regards,

Yes you can as long as the 660 you get has 3GB of VRAM. Good luck!

I had that exact same card and I paired it with the FTW Signature 2 (03G-P4-2667-KR) and it worked perfectly. Like others have said, you just need to have the same amount of memory and you're good!

I know in the past, the 8800 series for example did not need the same amount of memory, you could run a 640MB card and a 320MB card in sli, and it would just go to the lowest common denominator , thus it would only use 320 mb of the 640 mb card. Kinda surprised it doesn't work that way anymore.

So I have to ask, being a tech-newb that I am, just running one 27" VA monitor, if I SLId 2, 3gb cards, will it help playing non-3d games? Just games like Skyrim, BL2, BF3 etc? Is it worth it? I think Id need to put more fans in my case too. Thanks

3D or non-3D, performance will be dictated by the amount of resources the game(s) require. Keep in mind that ambient temperature inside of your case is also directly affected by where your PC is physically placed (i.e. air conditioned room vs no A/C) so you may or may not need more fans but that is up to you to decide.
