Yeah the Chaingun fittings are cool, same as any other compression fitting, just looks really cool, no functional difference.

Yes that is the B I was mentioning, actually I got the unthreaded version, with the standard hose barbs for 1/2 inch but I am not seeing it now, and they used to be cheaper :/

The G1/4 tapped should be good as well, never used that type, mine are all the barb variants.  Also, make sure you power it off of molex not a controller, no need to put it on a controller.

Cool, uh I came across another version of the chaingun, hardline.

Is this considered better than the compression version?

That's a solid compression fitting, but if you are going with 1/2ID I would STRONGLY recommend going with 3/4OD, thicker tube wall will make it much more resistant to kinks, especially as it gets older.

Darn, I actually have 1/2 3/4 all lined up. However I can't find any hardline 1/2 3/4. But they do have the compression 1/2 3/4 which I'll get.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/21346/ex-tub-2037/Monsoon_Chain_Gun_Compression_Fitting_-_12ID_x_34OD_-_4_Pack_Blue_CGF-1234-4P-BL.html

I've got the primo chill 1/2 3/4 clear tubing waiting to be purchased.
If I were to get this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQBBCBE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2HDBETNWFDRYH&coliid=ISWZ68B4CI8PZ
How many bottles would I need to complete the fill? lol With pretty much what I have on my listing on the first page?

I've also have the cpu/gpu/rad purchased.
Still waiting to pull trigger on pump/res/fittings/tubing/tempsensors

For the coolant, I wouldn't bother, Distilled water and a biocide and you are good to go.  I have added a few ounces per liter of a corrosion inhibitor but that's about it.
This is a solid biocide http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/peptpcobi1.html and was tested with the Feser coolant additives.

Good to know. Um changed my mind on which monsoons. I'm assuming I need 10 of these total right? cpu/gpu/rad/res/pump
Looks like I'll just pick up two sets of these.

Yeah, you will need 10 for that, and BTW, those are sharp looking, little too flashy for my tastes, but but nice.

I'd just get a premixed coolant distilled water is boring and performs just the same!  By the time you add all your additives it is about the same price as a bottle of coolant.

Hmm just now noticed that the pump is tapped with 1/4, also saw the 3/8 version as well. Does that mean I cant use the Monsoon fittings above on the pump? Or will they? Are most of these threading sizes a standard? I haven't gotten around buying the pump and res just yet, just need my confusion cleared up so I can proceed forward in the next week or two to finish the parts.

This is partially true.  Yes the initial cost is the same, however when you do maintenance and drain and refill, you only use a fwew more drops, so those additives last a LONG time, whereas buying another couple quarts of premix can cost a bit.

@AZN
You would need to get 1/4 based not 3/8, and Monsoon has them in both sizes for just about everything I have ever seen.

Does that also mean I need to get another set of tubing just for the pump lols. Darn. More hidden costs lol. Good thing I caught on this early. I already got my 1/2 3/4 tubing in hand already.

No, that is the thread size, 1/2x3/4 is the tube size for the barb/compression the G1/4 or G3/8 is for threading in the barb/compression fitting.

Re: Looking for watercooling parts now :) 2014/04/20 19:45:24 (permalink)
Those Monsoon Hardline fittings are for acrylic tubing ONLY, they will not work with standard flexible tube. The last fittings you linked will work with standard 1/2" ID 3/4" OD soft tubing though.

Premixed coolant is a waste of money. You can get distilled\deionized water locally for ~$2 a gallon. If you want colored coolant, then pickup some Mayhems Dye, and you'll have enough to dye your loop a couple of dozen times. As far as other additives, I haven't used a silver kill coil or any biocide in my loops for years and I've never had any issues. If you want though you can always pickup either a silver kill coil or PT Nuke for ~$5 and it will last you forever. For less than $15 you can essentially have a lifetime supply of the best coolant with the only additional cost being the distilled water from your grocery store.

My personal recommendation is colored tubing if you desire, and 100% pure distilled water with zero additives\dyes. It offers the best peformance, and you won't run into any issues with certain WCing manufactures denying RMA's because you had a kill coil\PT Nuke in your loop.

Good to know lol, good thing I moved on to the other fittings. I didn't look at angled fittings? You guys think I'm going to run into issues without them? Personally I'm not familiar with any of this and how they work in conjunction with the compression fittings that I'm getting already. I'm thinking I need a few here n there.

Lols, this guy sure has a ton of fittings  But I'm not as experienced as him as far what I should buy. So jelly.

Since I can't nearly afford what I would like to put in the desk, but for the time being. I would like to setup something like this? I'll prob add a second res in the future and change the orientation of the res.

I included the blank one for you guys to modify if the above isn't great. lols

Any recommendations for angled fittings? Like the ones sorta shown here on the reservoirs? And would it work in combination with the monsoon fittings that I will be getting or they are a direct replacement? Trying to figure out if I should only get 1 set of the monsoon and the other half angled? I'm starting out with one res, going to add a second to pair a set up like shown below probably next month. And or should I add any quick disconnects to the loop as well?
