Whats the point of not running Vsync when you're really not going to notice a performance difference? Example: Lastnight was playing battlefield, getting sweet FPS, didn't notice screen trearing but my GPU's were haulin ass! So, Vsync (as stated) matches your monitor refresh rate. Constant 60 FPS ddin't notice a difference in performance, and my GPU's were quiet as ever. For benchmarking, I can understand no Vsync... but in gaming? There's no point in having it off right?

Sort of..... With Vsync on, your computer is cutting frames out so you are technically not getting all of the information to your brain. They say your eyes are good for 30 fps or something like that, but your eyes (and brain) do not work like a camera with a shutter. (Remember, life does not occur and any FPS, it just happens) Your eyes are always streaming live data to your brain then your brain puts together the information that it thinks you need to function. So, the more detailed info you can give to your brain to process the better, and that includes gamming.

My eyes/brain are very sensitive to motion, like image tearing. and low FPS's. In other words, I see what most cant..... I should of joined the Navy, laughs..... .

I have Vsync off when playing BF4 or a lot of First Person Shooters\action games as long as there is no tearing. If I am playing something like Diablo3(<-- FPS locked anyways?) or a strategy game, I will have Vsync on. Another reason I forgot to mention about shooter games. Your mouse movements are tied to each frame, so of your computer is leaving out some frames it is also leaving that movement with it, and because your brain does not work in FPS there is a disconnect between your brain/hand movements and what you see. For fast games, feed your brain! Let it decide what to use and not use.

The biggest downside to vsync with most games and a 60Hz monitor is the mouse-lag that it will introduce. Since games typically poll for the latest mouse-input values when the frame-buffer clears, there will be more chances for this to happen with vsync off. on 120hz screens, there is no reason not to use vsync usually as the mouse-lag is almost non-existent compared to 60Hz.

I don't use vsync because of the mouse lag. I will use gsync though, that really eliminates all the downsides.

Personally I leave it off, and turn it on game by game as needed, I only use it if I have screen taring, or in some strategy games where the FPS goes crazy high and causes stability issues. EVGA_JacobF I don't use vsync because of the mouse lag. I will use gsync though, that really eliminates all the downsides.
yes THIS^^ Ever since I saw the gsync demo first hand I have wanted it.

I always leave Vsync on. I have never really noticed any mouse lag though. If I leave Vsync off though I will instantly notice screen tearing and it WILL drive me up the wall. It's why I am peeved with EA not adding Vsync options to The Sims 3 cause I have heard the game actually can cook older video cards.

For me, I do see the point of added mouse lag in multiplayer games such as bf4 and titanfall. But the tearing caused by the lack of vsync is unbearable as well. So i have noticed that disabling in-game vsync, forcing on through control panel and using a frame limiter (dxtory, inspector) to 59hz (60hz monitor) gives me the best result out of all vsync combination. Just my 2 cents Shafat
