I'm trying to conserve power by abandoning my dedicated gpu in my htpc build.

I've run into a bit of a problem.  My HDCP compliant 4770k doesn't appear to HDCP compliant.  All I get is a black screen (with audio) when I try to play copy protected channels using WMC.

I've found evidence that others are having this same issue on intel's forums.  Unfortunately no solutions have been posted.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I doubt you'll find a work around.  You could get a low power card like a gt 640 or a 610  and use it for the HDCP.

    I've considered it.

A knowledgeable cable tech came out to my house today to fix a problem with my tuning adapter.  He brought up the fact that the channels that the integrated graphics has problems with are SDV channels which use mpeg4 instead of mpeg2 coding.  It is most likely a driver issue on intel's end.

Long story short Intel's hd graphics drivers suck.  Flickering, possible mpeg4 issue and passthrough audio loss after resuming from away mode/sleep are show stoppers for me.

I just wish sleep would work with ceton's infinitv6 pcie card.  Oh well, can't have everything I suppose.

Sure enough, intel's imbedded graphics do not support mpeg4.

Saw your post on intel forums, a gtx 650 shouldn't suck up that much power
