Really you guys are ****ing about an LED.

Not even sure what word fits in there. But yes, we are ****ing about an LED...
I've spent quite a lot of time and effort to make this rig look the way I want, custom everything. And the white/green/red LED's don't suit my build and detract from the overall look. So I will be looking into avenues to hide them.

Not even sure why you are concerned what I do with my Classy's...

Lord Odin

It would be nice if the LED was customizable on the next generation, like we can with keyboards or mice.  That way we can match our setups no matter what we use.

This would be good, but if they could make it customizable to the point of being able to switch it off... Then I'd be keen.

Or maybe even a "Usage" meter, there are 5 white LED's, why not have them light up in increments of 20% as per the usage of the cards. Real-time monitoring.

This will almost definitely void warranty, and I want to try to avoid this if possible. The thermal tape idea is looking pretty good at this point. I'll have to see how the HC blocks line and up then I'll have a better idea as to how to move forward.

So I have seen alot about issues with the ACX coolers across the board lately, and sadly i am about to agree, they kinda suck... the bottom card in my configuration now makes an annoying pitter patter all the time when idle... I guess i have to go thru the mess of RMA to get it replaced, but whats to say the next one wont do the same thing....and I know I am gonna have to pay for shipping....what I would really like to know is what kind of fans are being used in the ACX coolers... I cant find any problems with the fan as far as mounting or contact with surrounding parts, and the rest of the card seems fine. My theory is cheap fan bearings. but I cant find out what kind of bearings EVGA is using, I am betting its sleeved, and that these bearings are the cause of the problem. Im not sure cuz it seems like a trivial thing to get some good fluid dynamic bearings since they cost almost nothing., and I believe EVGA wouldnt skimp on something like that but it just seems like an ongoing problem thats fairly common.

I currently have 3 classifieds and all of them are running fine, pretty much silent most of the time. Although the 3rd card does get very hot as it doesn't get much 'fresh air' but with will be fixed when I put the liquid loop in.

Can you post a YouTube video of your 'pitter pattering' fan? I'd be curious to see what it is also.

Here Ya go, its even more annoying on video lol.
http://youtu.be/QVx9xgsKOpY

I've looked the card over several times closely after extracting it from the case and cant find any issue with the fan spins cleanly by hand without obstruction and nothing in the case is near enough to contact it. cant think of anything else other than poor mounting causing vibrations or cheap bearings coming undone.

Yeah, that would be a fairly significant chunk of change just to fix fan noise.I think the product should just work like its supposed to in the first place, I like your style though :)

Really its not even the noise I am ticked off about cause its not that bad outside the case and the card works fine. The problem is if it is a bad bearing on poor mounting, than the fans life is unknowable it could fail at any time, if it was a simple case fan than who cares I got enough of those things lying around to make an all case fan LED light show worthy of Disney! but this isn't a fan I can just pop out and replace and I highly doubt this card will function properly on one fan and certainly not on none.
Maybe it'll make this noise for a decade and still be fine, but it probably wont. In my experiences fans that make mysterious noises with no apparent cause or fix don't last long.

No but he was messing around with his GPU when the fan was making some noise and it happened to break.  Was dead in under a week because of that.

No classifieds include the backplate as far as I know.

You have to buy it separately.

There is only 1 SKU for the Classified and that doesn't have a backplate.

That is pretty bad form on Amazon's Part... I'd contact them and ask them directly. Maybe they know something I don't.

But to my knowledge they don't come with backplates.

The 3 I bought certainly didn't!

I would still recommend getting one though, they are great cards and have serious performance when coupled with some decent cooling. But if you're going to keep the ACX cooler on it. Have you considered the FTW version? Runs cooler, save a few $$'s by not having the extra VRM's that you won't really be using.

Both a very nice cards and have a great application in water or air cooling respectively in my humble opinion.

Actually yes, FTW was my first choice before Classy, but since i saw it with backplate i just said hey gonna spend the extra on it. Reason i'm goin with reference is only for looking, green leds will match my Gigabyte Sniper 5 so nice. Plus while is ACX coolers run fresh, perfomance difference vs reference is just about 4 - 5 fps as much, both, stock and overclocked situations. Anyway still considering, :( too bad classy didnt include the backplate as i though, it just look Gorgeous.  Thank you my friend, for let me know this fact before make purchase.

Hey Guys,

I actually manage the product information and photos that end up on Amazon. I submitted a ticket to them to get that photo removed, as the Classified 780 doesn't include the backplate.

If you ever see stuff like this that's off, please shoot me a PM. We can usually make an edit that shows same-day or the following day on the web.

Thanks for catching that, I appreciate it!

Yeah I actually did a similar fix to my lower card, also it turns out the rear fan on the card has its power cable secured differently than the front, it was rubbing the fan blade, used some thermal glue to stick it down and it seems to be fixed, everything looks great now.

No classifieds include the backplate as far as I know.

You have to buy it separately.

There is only 1 SKU for the Classified and that doesn't have a backplate.

ugg.... well that's kinda false advertising then  . It cleary show a pic where it have a backplate. I'm trying to figure it out, cause then i rather buy a reference model.

I can't add links but if you go to amazon.com USA, please check the 780 Classy, one of the pics show a backplate, i guess i'll try to conctact amazon to inform this issue.

Thanks JWhite! Great service as usual. :D

Hi smashtic,

We had 20 ship to Amazon on 9/10, but that may have been to fulfill backorders they that had outstanding with customers. They have another 60 on backorder with us, we're just waiting on production overseas to make us more. It's mid-autumn festival in Taiwan and China, so I probably won't hear on production status until sometime next week.

I'm watching this thread closely, so I'll let you guys know when some will hit Amazon. I'm a Prime user myself, so I understand how awesome free 2-day shipping is (plus some on-demand video as icing on the cake).

Thanks for your patience folks, and stay tuned!

Just noticed this - There is finally a product page for the classy WB on the european web shop and it's in stock!

Annoyingly I literally ordered a universal block about 12 hours ago. >_<

hey guys I am a newbie here and I just got a evga gtx 780, I used to have a hd 7970, anyways I have 2 monitors setup one for gaming an second to see my chat , watch movies etc (all while gaming)
after playing WoW and crysis 2 I notice my second monitor going black and only way to see it I had to do alt + tab, is there a way to fix this ? also when I turn on my pc the second monitor turns on first while the other one stays off for abit, I never had this issues with my hd 7970.
