As the title says I have several games that run 64 bit clients, and was wondering if EVGA Precision plans on updating their OSD so It will display newer games?

From what I understand from Unwinder is that it is a pretty massive undertaking to rewrite the OSD for 64bit support, I don't think it will be anytime soon.

It wont support 64-bit games anytime soon, if at all  here's a response from Unwinder about it from Guru3d

I have no plans to provide 64-bit support in RTSS while 64-bit applications cover insignificant part of market. Developing 64-bit server is not a trivial application recompilation, API hooking engine works with target application machine code at low-level, it contains built-it x86 executable machine code disassembler for stealth mode functionality and floating injection point implementation, many parts of hook engine are written in ASM as well as performance critical video compression parts are heavily optimized ASM/SSE2. So 64-bit version means that whole hooking infrastructure must be re-created from scratch as well as some parts of video encoding (e.g. whole highly effective RTV1 compressor). So that's rather expensive from development time point of view, I'd say it is costs 2-3 weeks of fulltime development. At the same time it only extends user base a bit and it brings zero new functionality to the majority of application users, as well as gives them potential issues due to rewriting some parts of previously polished codebase. I see zero sense in it current market state. Yes, one day it will be absolutely necessary to provide 64-bit server when 32-bit applications become the minority. But that "one day" is somewhere in far future, and right now I have a choice to invest the same few weeks of development in new functionality and I'll always chose this way.

Bump for Battlefield 4 64-bit beta client. :)

EDIT: looks like he won't be providing 64-bit support? http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=381799

Is there any way EVGA can moneyhat this so it happens sooner?

I would gladly donate to a kickstarter to get 64-bit.  With the new consoles coming out, I'm sure that there are going to be a lot more 64-bit games.

I would check the dev $5 at least and I think there are a ton of people that would if we knew it would go toward a 64bit version.

how about a 64 bit precision app 2013/10/18 06:41:12 (permalink)
just wanting to know if we will ever have a 64bit precision.
i like to set my windows to 64 bit in bios but precision does not work right when i do. no OSD at all and setting my fan speed will not stay at settings.
works great when windows is set for 32bit.

How many times must this be asked in different places?

I know this has been asked 2 or 3 times already, but this is the most relevant thread:

I was unaware of that since I prefer AB over PrecisionX. Basically if it weren't for 'Unwinder' we wouldn't have any overclocking tools and he provides them for free for us to use. Talk about no good deed goes unpunished. He sure takes a lot of abuse because he doesn't have a 64-bit version of RTSS yet. I have nothing but admiration for Unwinder and I am very grateful for the work he does.

Yes, as mentioned this has been asked many times. So the answer for now is that it stays 32 bit.

for all those that keep asking, all you have to do is buy more titans so evga can per$uade him to rewrite it for 64 bit, then you can bad mouth the app because it does not work just perfect yet in 64bit.
a say a big  to unwinder, he never had to do Rivatuner and release it for free but to the joy of many a overclocker he did.

Very small apps like EVGA Precision work just fine in 64 bit operating systems and there really is no reason to code it for 64 bit. If it were a large app consuming more than 2GB in a single processing thread then I would tend to agree, but that is not the case right now.

I hope Jacob can finally understand why I strongly insist on removing OSD from Precision. That's OK that OSD part doesn't bring me any income in Precision project, I added it to Precision per my wish to give people some RivaTuner-styled functionality in Precision besides the thing included in development/licensing budget and requested by EVGA and it was OK to continue doing so until it became the reason of endless insults in my address. But each time I try to get rid of OSD part (it happened many times) I get promises from Jacob that it will stop, that users will be educated by mods, etc, etc. I realize that company simple cannot keep the word. I also realize that company will always protect such users whatever they say simply because they bring money. So such posts will continue and never result in a single ban. I'm really tired of it. I no longer wish to give your customers something they don't pay for in exchange of reading deadly insulting things about "gigantic lazy douche" and so on. If you cannot protect even the name of your partners providing you free services, I'll do it myself by quiting the contract.

Unwinder, if there are posts which violate the EVGA forums terms of service just notify one of the mods like myself and we'll take care of it. I am going to lock down this thread for now.
