Yeah i wouldnt worry about them mate, just jealous they couldnt create a waterblock which does 9c better then "so called expensive heatkiller"

They all brought up good and valid points (that could have been brought to light in a slightly more tasteful manner, but whats done, is done ). There are some strange anomaly in the numbers that cannot be accounted for, but hopefully this post helps.

While some are not too tactful over there, your design is interesting and as I stated there "thinking outside of the box". I think most are just questioning the test and therefore the claim. Most members over there look for new designs and welcome them, however if you make claims (valid or not) you have to be prepared to back them up and expect skepticism. Look at the last post Gabe (Swiftech) posted about the effect of flow on temps and even he took some hits. It's healthy to question test results as it keeps everyone honest. If they can be replicated either by yourself or by someone else (preferred) then that adds validity to the results. I personally like when someone tries something new as I believe that water cooling is becoming stagnate and without innovation will not improve beyond what we already have. Don't let negative comments keep you from trying new things, look at it as a challenge to win over the skeptics.

I appreciate the kind words. I PM'd skinnee, but have not heard back from him as of yet. I would like to re-create a test using 2 identical machines running at the same time, side by side as a benchtop configuration, but some there would still question the results.
I would like to send the block to EVGA to run on 2 identical motherboards side by side but I am not sure if they would do that?

You should not have lapped the HK, it ruins the performance (see here). Also, it would be good to see a test of this vs. HK CU and EK Supreme HF. Great idea though. I was toying myself with the idea of a hybrid air and water block about two years ago but I have no means of making it so I gave up. I would definitely be interested in this with some refinement. Edit: For the next test I would suggest that you add another radiator. Adding another radiator factors out heat dissipation limitations of the radiator out of your test and then you can then safely test the HK performance (though should be unlapped) vs. your block. Then I would do two things. First, I would run a test just water block vs. water block, no fan or anything added to your waterblock. Then, second test should add a fan to your block and observe the temps again. If the radiator is not the limiting factor this will give you a very accurate picture of the practical difference between two blocks in scenarios where you are not limited by an extreme water to air delta. I hope this makes sense.

You know john.. you are wise beyond your years. That is the most valid point of all. Everyone is asking me to downplay the block until it equals a HK block. It was designed to beat the HK block by adding fins and a fan, and asking me to get rid of it is like asking someone to bring a smaller gun to a gun fight because you brought an RPG. By testing it as a regular block your taking away the biggest advancement in the block itself. Its primary design. Well said John.

This was my point I was trying to make on xtreme. The design is new and unique and you should compare it to whatever block the way it was designed to be used, not cripple it. Again, I really like the idea and the fact you stepped outside the box in the design and this is what everyone should be taking from it most of all.

Only a bonger could design this block . If your water runs dry your air cooler takes over. The same thing if you have pump failure. Ingenious. I will make a prophecy that all blocks will be designed this way eventually. Major, major kudos Nate. I just spent big green upgrading my home theater in my new man cave or I would have Nate building me one right now.

Thanks!! You are absolutely right and I think that was always on my mind when I actually started making it. If your bong water evaporates overnight (say you forget to fill it up) you could fry your computer. Now if only I could figure out how to save the pump? Oh wait.. needs to have a 90mm fan on it unfortunately The block is being redesigned as we speak. Always a work in progress. Much better results expected.
