What's your favorite motherboard ever?
I'm quite new still (first build was whenot Sandy Bridge was new) . The boards I've used in order from first to last:
GA-Z68-A3 Gigabyte G1 Sniper M5 ASRock Z97 Extreme6 Asus Maximus V Gene EVGA X79 SLI EVGA X79 Dark
For me it's between the SLI and Dark. I bought the SLI for cheap and it had a lot of hate. It was my first time experiencing the enthusiast platform and needed something for a 3820 I got for a steal. The board was rock solid. Then evga released their UEFI bios for it and it was amazing! Then I went to the dark and a 3930K... I loved it justill wish they acknowledged the issue with corsair ax/ seasonic power supplies. I also loved my Sniper M5. I'm probably building another Sandy E system and will go with the dark again. I loved it that much. Plys, I'm stuck in the past. So, what's your favorite?

GA-X99-SOC Champion is my favorite. It's solid as a rock! It holds my overclocks overnight and doesn't need to have them reset each morning like a previous board I owned. It's currently on sale for $190, normal price is $299. Previous boards used: Asus Z97-WS EVGA Z77 FTW EVGA E762 (X58 4-way SLI Classified) MSI MS-7543

My favorite mobos are probably the DFI NF4 sli I had years ago which was a tweakers board with jumpers everywhere, which I sold like a dumbass. That's back when overclocking was more of an art than it is today. After that id say probably my evga 780i ftw which I still have and it works like a champ.

Mine is my current one. I like Asrock products...Had to use their RMA once because I bent pins (on a z97 board)...50 bucks because of my error, but still a smooth RMA....

I don't think much about motherbosrds. There were one or two I didn't like, but none that I particularly loved more than any other.
If I had to pick my favorite, I guess I would have to pick my first. It was a FIC brand (no longer around) motherboard. The thing I liked most about it was how much more tricky and "to the metal" the overlocking was back then. To overclock my AMD K6-II processor from 350 MHz to 400 MHz, I had to move around about 10 jumpers to the correct position to set bus speeds and voltages.

Favorite was by far my SR2. There is just something really cool bout having 2 CPU's on a board. It was also a little trickier to OC than the newer stuff. Not jumpers and switches tricky, but it takes a little more fiddling with voltages and such to make 2 CPU's OC happily together. 2nd favorite is my X99FTW that I have now. It just works, and OCing isn't that hard.

My X58 rocked but I must admit that the micro 2 X99 I'm using now has been great until last week when the BIOs chip failed. Bought a new chip and all is well.

I didn't care for the X58 SLI either. The MOSFETS ran hot unless you modified it and the board had an almost perpetual "double-pump" startup issue and flakey RAM stability. Hands down, my least favorite board was the 780i SLI because the chipset was super hot and the chipset fans were noisy. Wasn't a fun board to use either. I had POST issues intermittently and SATA issues with it sometimes. Both the X58 SLI and 780i SLI were EVGA. Honestly, since they were two of my least favorite boards, I haven't tried EVGA motherboards since.

Man, some of you guys have been around for a while. I'm liking this so far. As I said, I'm still fairly new, however I feel very comfortable with things like overclocking and custom loops. Whenever I feel like I'm familiar with the features on today's boards I find a new feature. Then I just say to myself "wow I wonder who else knows you can do this?" Haha

I had the DFI NF4 Ultra-D model and I very much agree, overclocking was a form of art then. I loved the LANParty line of boards. It was aimed at the enthusiast market. I also had fun with the LANParty NFII Ultra and a LANParty LT X48 T2R paired with a Core 2 Q9550 Yorkfield Quad. It was a great machine which I retired last year after 7 years of perfect service. My favorite is my current, Asus RVE, which I hope I never have to deal with their customer service again ( had done it before maybe 11-12 years ago and it was frustrating ) but this ROG line of boards are amazing. Its been up for a year now and I'm thrilled with it. I think most of us here like their latest and greatest the best because motherboards have come a long way.

My favorite boards I own. Gigabyte GA-X58A-OC - Amazing cpu oc'er, got a chip to 6GHz with it but the pcie slots are improperly soldered on mine so high power gpu's cause severe issues. Evga X58 Classified 4-Way SLI - Looks nice and being able to run 7 pcie cards @ 16x/8x/8x/8x/8x/8x/8x is pretty nice as well. Asus P5Q-E - Good little P45 775 board, great at oc'ing low fsb chips.
