After several hours of play without driver crash i get today first driver crash in Far Cry 4. Application stopped. Then i saw on events: Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Its very random , sometimes i can play even 24 hours without driver crash and sometimes like today its crashed driver after 5 minutes of started game.
Its problem with driver or my its just my card? ( i am using stock Asus Strix 980 ). I am using the newest drivers. All other games runs without even single crash. I tested Unigine Heaven for 10 hours, without crash. I tested Metro Last Light for few hours without crash too.

Only Far Cry 4 sometimes crash after 5 minutes, but mostly often i can play 24 hours without driver crash.

Using 347.88 WHQL.

All my pc is stock, cpu is 4790k stock. GPU is on stock too.

From what i know, crashing display driver Nvlddmkm its always graphic card ( hardware ) failure? Rma graphic card?
TDR's are always happening because of "bad/broken" hardware.Or it can be software too?

You might have hidden drivers kicking in and out??? Try this procedure

Read NOTEs at bottom before you start.
If you Installed and reinstalled device drivers, it’s possibly not working just like you expected or has an unknown quirk.  Then you may want to check and see if your old drivers  actually got removed.  Device manager will not show them.

To check and see if you have extra drivers from re-installs present on your hardware; you must set a flag for device manager from the cmd box.  In the Start Menu, click on "All Programs" and then "Accessories".  Now right click on the Command Prompt and click on Run as administrator.    Now type in this  FLAG/CMD:(do not type the FLAG/CMD:)

      “set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1” (no quotes

Next type    ”devmgmt.msc “  (as administrator)

Once you are in Device Manager, go to the "View" menu, select  “Show Hidden Devices”.  This will show all the device drivers including things that aren’t currently installed in your computer.  You can right-click on the driver and then choose Uninstall from the menu to remove the drivers for that old hardware.

This procedure can resolve a lot of weird issues, and even increase performance on some machines where you’ve upgraded drivers a ton of times.

NOTE: the grayed out drivers may OR may Not still be needed.  Before deleteing make sure they are not for some devices (like USBs or some parts of media player).
Note: If you join some conferences (business/broadcast) Microsoft Streaming Service maybe installed to receive the Internet Stream.

Sometimes you run into a game that just doesn't like your system and it crashes now and then. It happens. If it is a rare occurrence I wouldn't worry about it to be honest.

    Ok . My system is:
    CPU - 4790 stock
RAM - 8 gb ram vengeance
    PSU - Corsair RM 750
    Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark2
GPU: Asus Strix 980 OC by factory only
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    Listen.

First i went from 344.75 WHQL to newest drivers 347.88 WHQL and then i was had random driver crashing in Far Cry 4. Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Application stopped. Then i saw on events: Nvlddmkm Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Its very random .
Then i try 350.05 HOTFIX and all was fine , i played 24 hours without driver crash. After that i installed today 350.12 WHQL ( GTA V ready ) and problem with crashing back, after 5 minutes of play, app crash with driver nvlddmkm recovery.

So when i was using 344.75 WHQL and 350 HOTFIX all was fine in Far Cry 4.

    So:
    344.75 WHQL - no crashing
    350 HOTFIX - no crashing
350.12 WHQL - crashing video driver in Far Cry 4
347.88 WHQL - crashing video driver in Far Cry 4

Its something with my card if on 2 versions of drivers my card are not stable?

Hey guys. Little update. I run memtest and shows 34 errors after 5 minutes. It can be problem then with memory with display crashing? ( TDR )? Display crashing ( TDR ) can be caused by memory then?

I switch my memory from Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1333mhz to Kingston Hyperx 2x4gb 1600mhz.
Edit , nvm today next crash .
Guys explain me. I am in big hole now. Sometimes i can play Far Cry 4 12-24 hours without single TDR ( nvlddmkm ) crash. But in next day game can crash with TDR ( nvlddmkm ) after 10 minutes. Is this related to my card or what?

It's most likely just the game since you said other games run just fine.
