I have just tried to post the board for the first time and am getting a cycling series of numbers on the post code readout. They are going really really fast but I have tried to write them down in the order they appear as best I can. C EF 02 09 04 19 b0 This series just loops over and over again and nothing happens. Is it a defective board or is something else wrong. EDIT: I have tried resetting the CMOS and taking all but 1 of my RAM sticks out and when I try and start it with only one in I get the post code FF. The RAM I am using is compatible and not sure what else to try.

Sorry bit flustered as I don't want / have the funds to go out and buy another board if this one is dead.
Motherboard: EVGA x99 Micro 2
CPU: Intel Core i7 6850k @ 3.6GHz
GPU: EVGA GTX1080 8GB

I've just noticed that my CPU has a rated max RAM MHz of 2400 and the RAM I have is 2666MHz could it be this causing the error? From my knowledge the RAM speed would just be downscaled to the max speed of the CPU is this wrong?

With the Power On...Press and Hold the Small Red Button on the MB and Hold for 5-6 Seconds to clear and reset the Bios.

Maybe BIOS update for the i7 6850k? I know the X99 motherboards need BIOS 2.01 to run the BDW-E CPUs.

I would think the OP has 2.1 as 2.2 is now out and 2.1 came out May 27 2016 I would doubt that the OP has Bios R103.

Basically the board I have is running a BIOS version that isn't compatible with my Broadwell-E CPU and I need to update the BIOS. The issue this creates is I don't have 2011-3 socket type CPU's just laying around for this such occasion. However luckily for me I just build 10 systems for my university that use 2011-3 socket type so hopefully I can use one of those CPU's to update the BIOS so I can then use my Broadwell-E CPU. Hopefully.

You can also open a Support Ticket and request a Bios Chip How Old is this Motherboard? CMK32GX4M4A2666C16 are you sure it is not this " CMK32GX4M4A2666C16R" CMK32GX4M4A2666C16 is not on the supported list.

EVGA will send you a Bios Chip to put in your Motherboard to support New CPUs or if you corrupt your Bios.

Maybe your CPU Cooler is on to Tight.
Remove the CPU Cooler and check for Bent CPU Socket Pins.

http://www.evga.com/support/manuals/ Page 8 and 9 of Part 1 of the X99 Micro 2 manual, number 25 shows the removable BIOS chip. EVGA included that for cases just like this if the user buys a newer CPU that isn't supported without a newer BIOS released after the motherboard was shipped out (to the retailer).

I feel your pain, Mousy..But if it's an emergency, you're inclined to do so and you have access to another X99 mobo (maybe one of the 10 systems you built for your university), you can take the BIOS chip from your X99 and put it in another X99 to flash it. Boot the functioning X99 into Windows, grab the BIOS flash tool .zip and extract it..Carefully swap out the BIOS chip with yours while the machine is running and in Windows..Run the update.bat to flash it per the Windows Installation instructions (in the Notes) on your BIOS download page..After the flash and the machine shuts down, swap BIOS chips back again. Swapping out the BIOS chips may be (probably) easier than swapping out CPUs..Otherwise, wait for EVGA to reply about sending you a new replacemrnt BIOS chip. Just another thought here..Good luck. On a side note, I wish that not only EVGA (hint), but all enthusiast mobo manufacturers these days would get onboard with something like ASUS USB BIOS Flashback where you only need power to the mobo to flash the BIOS..No CPU, no RAM, no nothing needs to be installed to flash the BIOS from a USB stick.

I just purchased 5 I7 6800k’s and 5 X99**** K motherboards, all had 2.01 BIOS.
C indicates a CPU fault I just went through a similar issue.
Two of the I7’s were DOA one caused a “C” error code the other wouldn’t post at all.
I may have received two bad CPUs, but they weren’t from the same batch and they were the first two I tried, out of caution we are RMAing the suspected RAM, Motherboard and the two DOA I7’S.
2 of the machines have Ballistix Elite BLE4K4G4D26AFEA (including the one that failed)
3 of the machines have Ballistix Tactical BLT4K4G4D26AFTA
All of the machines have EVGA 1060 GTX 6gb, Corsair 760 T cases and Corsair RM 750I PSUs.
