Thinking about upgrading Mother board to EVGA Z77-FTW Leaving the Sandy 2600K in it do some comparison testing from the current Z68-FTW. Then decide whether or not to go IVY? Anyone have thoughts on this?

Do it!! I have the z77 FTW board with a 2600K and its working well with it. But I am going to upgrade to a 3770k just so I can get the 3.0 feature for the PCI lanes that Sandy Bridge does not offer. Also because I just want to be able to have a CPU that can handle a higher memory frequency. Ivy bridge can handle a memory frequency of 2666mhz or 3000mhz unlike 2600K that I have.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping someone with a sandy chip would weigh in.
Does it over clock the sandy as well as the Z68  board?
I 'll have to pull the trigger before the price goes back up

Build looks good +1 for the back cable management The front looks like a **** though if you wanna take anything out, you got the hose line covering the RAM and the 6pins hooked into the 120mm Fan mount for the cards you going to have a good workout for replacing the motherboard

Thanks for the +1 on the cabling. Actually the tubing has a lot of clearance over the ram. I can remove it with out moving the tube at all. The GPU tunnel is a piece of cake to remove. The The board swapping shouldn't be to bad. I hope LOL.

EVGA Z77-FTW I'm happy with MB overclocked well. Only issue is Idle temp is high, 48c with 2600K on this MB. Everyone is saying they are reading about 8-12c high.
It idled at 30-32c on the Z68-FTW with same clocks and ambient temps?  Only thing that changed was the MB. I guess I'll try a clean and re TIM which I have never had to redo (very careful when doing TIM applications) but I will just to make sure it was not my fault.

Well I did the re TIM
As I suspected it was  a waist of my time, but I needed to rule that out (exact same temps & used IC Diamond)
I still don't know if everyone is having this problem or just those of us running Sandy CPU's???
