If you think resistors being DAMAGED and MISSING wouldn't/couldn't  cause electrical issues affecting one system after another after continued use eventually causing total failure and a fire is not possible i suggest you never touch anything electronic again.
"resistors offer resistance to current flowing in a circuit. This resistance may serve to protect critical components from receiving too much current."
It DOES NOT MATTER IF ONE CPU  or set of memoryt lanes IS WORKING WHEN THE BOARD HAS ELECTRICAL RESISTOR FLAWS ,the damage from use of the board was most likely if not defiantly  caused by use over time with broken and MISSING resistors ,the first CPU failing was the end result , your attempt to use it again caused a small Electrical fire on the mobo clearly showing you it was not safe to be used as you were warned by the TECH,you dont use anything electrical with bad resistors PERIOD its asking for trouble.
 
Its that clear ELECTRICAL RESISTORS missing and damaged will ruin a motherboard slowly .End result is generally a fire as seen on your mobo .
