I ask this question to all of you in this thread:

If you honestly believe that EVGA does not care about it's customers to do it's best at expanding globally, beyond North America, while retaining it's unmatched customer service, then I challenge you to contact Dell, HP, or ASUS, just to name a few, and see for yourself if you can get that same treatment - not someone halfway around the globe reading off of a script.

Australia has a huge customer base, and that's awesome!  But any growing company getting a footprint in a overseas country does NOT happen overnight.

If any AU members have an issue with EVGA service in their region, contact EVGA_DuaneB

You have obviously never contacted ASUS in Australia. They have much better customer service than their equivalent in the US.

Back when the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe was bringing SLI to the masses they had that doggy chipset fan. An email to them, then a reply email within hours with a local phone number. Called the number and had a replacement fan on my doorstep in 2 days. No receipt or proof of purchase required.

Compare that to the 4 or so times I have emailed EVGA with no response.

I don’t really care about the price too much as long as it is within a reasonable amount of all the other brands, which quite often there not. That’s why I buy other brands as well. But the biggest gripe I have is stop advertising on the box all the things we don’t get in this country like 90 day step-up, limited lifetime warranty or 24/7 tech support.

DuaneB is it possible to pre order the hydrocopper so we don’t miss out. I don’t want to see Australia only get like 5 cards and they go to the lucky people who were on the shops websites when they were posted.

Darren: Duane has explained in this thread everything you need to know how prices are determined in Australia.

In addition when you DON'T buy an item locally that store and it's entire supply chain loses money and income. Local jobs are affected as well. One item being imported may not hurt them but when you start massively importing items then you are only hurting your Australian community.

So after reading all that has been posted so far thats all you got out of it... you really only see what you want to see and thats EVGA's problem. People don't want to import their own cards or boards but when you over charge by double the price your not really giving them a choice now are you ??
I mean when you can buy 2 cards for the price of one you may as well keep the second one as a spare your no worse off. Every card you buy at Australian prices reinforces the perception that its ok to overcharge because if your still going to buy them why should I try to make it cheaper.
If you have to charge so much in order to keep local distribution in business you my friend are in serious trouble. All the costs you have listed are also costs that EVGA in the US manages to pay for and can still offer reasonable prices.

Here is the verdict choice magazine had on this form of market manipulation

"There are many excuses for the higher prices that Australian consumers pay, however we question the validity of these when the same price discrimination carries over to identical digital goods delivered via internet download. Likewise, tax and standards compliance do not have a significant impact on many products showing this price differential"

"If there are problems in international market segmentations that lead to higher prices then it is imperative that companies fix this and not leave it up to Australian consumers to pay for their outdated business models"

What should customers do about it ?

You don’t have to put up with exorbitant pricing — vote with your wallet. Look for alternative cheaper products or if this isn’t possible, consider purchasing from overseas and pay for shipment to Australia. In many cases, even with shipping costs, doing this is cheaper than purchasing these products locally at 'Australian' prices.

Darron, you've been provided a very good explanation yet you still refuse to believe it.

" Likewise, tax and standards compliance do not have a significant impact on many products showing this price differential"
So taxes and standards compliance are marginal, according to this.

So of the reasons listed earlier, let's just strike those out.
  • Currency Conversion USD > AUD  (Currency conversion incurs a cost; banks don't do it for free)
  • Import Duty Taxes
  • Advance Govt Tax
  • GST (10%)
  • Freight Charges, (Ocean, AIR or Priority Express. - Weight, carton size, qty and service)
  • Freight Insurance (Dependant on the total value in USD and the type of goods imported)
  • Allocation (Launch product is highly allocated product, resellers or the market generally will pay higher price or balance the cost against a ratio of low end models for allocation so they have some of the limited stock on launch, it happens in all businesses globally, this is not restricted to EVGA)
  • Priority Stock (Price paid to get product before anybody else, that is before any other vendor, distributor or reseller)
  • Shelf & stocking Fees - (Insurance, Cashflow, Inventory space)
  • Admin fees
  • Staff and handling costs
  • Credit Insurance
  • Margin (Distributor, reseller)
  • Local Delivery Fees ( Costs to deliver the product to reseller, Distributors offer free freight as incentive to channel)
  • Marketing funds
  • Bank & transaction fees (The cost for the transaction to pay for the goods, invoicing, purchasing etc)
  • RMA processing costs
There's still a bunch of costs involved in having a business.

EVGA AU prices are also in line with everyone else's.  Are you accusing people of price fixing now?

Lets also strike out what the US has to pay for seeing as though they don't make the cards or boards in the US.
  • Currency Conversion USD > AUD  (Currency conversion incurs a cost; banks don't do it for free)
  • Import Duty Taxes
  • Advance Govt Tax
  • GST (10%)
  • Freight Charges, (Ocean, AIR or Priority Express. - Weight, carton size, qty and service)

So im curious what costs different to customers in the US to result in such massive overheads maybe I can bubble wrap a few thousand cards for EVGA if it means I can shave off even $1 for Australian customers.

Stop posting and this thread will die.

(I'm not gonna post any more after this).

If you keep saying to let the thread die it'll keep floating to the top.

Its ok I have stated my case thats all I have to say about the issue, hopefully one day EVGA will bring about cheaper prices or add a few services exclusive to Australia to compensate for the price difference.
