Hello,

It looks like I'm very unlucky Evga customer - having problems one more time :(

Today I installed my brand new Evga Supernova 1600 P2 PSU and I get huge noise only in idle.
The sound is like the flowing electricity ane its extremely unpleasant. After few hours of listening to this sound I'm getting a headache.
Interesting is under load, when I launch any benchmark (like 3dmark or heaven) the noise totally dissapears.
Do I have to rma the psu or you have any idea what is the reason of that?
I allready tried different, seperate power nest but it doesn't help at all:(

I have made additional test with all power cords detached with just 24 pin cable with attached tester plugged in.
Here is a noise I'm getting (sorry for quality it was dark and recorded by phone):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mI_2CGx-yY

I'm really unlucky with power supplies - by previous brand new Seasonic Platinum 1200W has been deadly silend in idle but from time to time without any reason it starts spinning the fan really fast even during watching a movie or just browsing the websites.
My old x-850 which im using as a spare is running really quiet in idle and cause me no troubles. I just wanted to have large reserve.

Now question about rma process with doa item -> here the international transport rates for such heavy items are extremely expensive.
It there any option for cross-shipping (so I pass my faulty item to same courier that will deliver replacement)?
I will be very gratefull for such option.

BTW There is a huge mistake in spec sheet of this psu on evga eu website.
It is written there that it has 200mm width while it has 220mm which means I had to remove my 14cm fan to fit it into my case:(
That was the main reason I decide to take it instead of 1200w = same width but more power... but nvm.

    Small update about the case.

I try connecting the power supply at my work to different high quality power nest.
The huge noise it still there:(

Contacted Evga support and asked for pick up service because item has less than 30 days from purchase.
Waiting for process with hopes second psu won't have same issue.

On Friday finally replacement has been shipped by Evga and should be delivered Tuesday or Wednesday.
The only thing that concers me now is that according to shipping company the package has just 3kg (this is how much weight psu unit itself)
I hope its just a mistake and I will get brand new psu with all accessories in it.
I was assured by Evga customer service before that all rma's younger than 30 days from day of purchase will end brand new item thats why I sent to Evga whole box with everything...

On Wednesday I received brand new product and installed it today.
This one is deadly silent and I hope it will stay like that forever:)
It is worth mentioning that Evga paid for both sides transport.

Thank you Evga support! Once again you prove your outstanding quality of service.

Now should work OK, and If you don't have luck with hardware as me now if that PSU work leave him inside few years.
I only need to buy one more because backup on autumn and I hope that model will work same as mine 1200 P2.
I'm not calm without two graphics and two power supplies in house.

True that why I left my 3 years old X-850 as a backup psu:)

    850W is enough...
People should look depend of their components and backup PSU should be 750W or more if they have some high end graphic card.
I will in future stay with EVGA but SF platforms because they try hard last 2-3 years to get status... They made excellent power supply and before, every experts know that very well, but public meet them after EVGA 1000 G2 and EVGA 1300 G2 and than start to search for their PSU on place where people can't find EVGA easy.

I'm not sure only what happen with PSU if he stay in closet 2-3 years example...Is it good or bad, or not important.
Maybe is better if backup PSU work in some smaller office RIG...Than it's backup PC more than only PSU...
I don't know... because capacitors... special 2-4 bigger... how they react to stay only...Maybe become weaker after some time...
