So , i recognized, that my "4 displayed" graphic cards were only 2 lol.
I disabled the 4th graphic card - now in the device manager i see -> 6 graphic cards (3graphic cards x2 gpus = 6)
i have 4 x gtx 295
 
Which bios version was stable for 8gpu (4graphic cards)
 
ive read in this forum that someone used the A54 Version ?!

I just ordered PCIE Switch and extender cables for mining so i can render with 10xGTX580 
I must rebuild  my new chassi for more GPU space.
And after a couple of year a by me 10 old Titans or GTX780 for small price.

SR-2 is annoying :-)
You got different hardware than me.
So à think that you have to try other settings, optimizing so to speak :)
Maybe your 4x295 need 100 bus ?
I power up pcie bus + 40 in bios
Because i use pcie extenders cables.
Maybe u need 0 on all !!

I contacted EVGA Technical Support Europe today, they told me that the bios would play its role for multi gpu.
I asked him for older bios - Version 41 and lower - hopefully they can help me, because i really like EVGA Products :D

- i´ve also PM´d EVGA_Jacobs if he has infos about older versions or more gpu setups than 7.
 
I told the European Tech, that i know evga will only support 7, but told him that i thrust in Evga and that they are willing to help us out with ideas hopefully we´ve get our beasts to become bootable. If theyre unstable i could life with this :D

Such things i determined to, with my faultcodes i had (b8 / 68, d5) that these are often seen in combination with memory.
Maybe a really older bios version would help out.
 
The Tech from europe told me he is going to let me know if he can get "old bios" versions :)

musky did do some bios mods for the SR2, but not sure if he could help in this case,
plus I think he stated the oldest he had saved was A50.

So managed to boot up again.
 
If im not stupid ive seen on the first boot screen there stood 8 gpu - is that right that the "GPUS" are listed up in the first bios screen ?
 
What ive seen, boot up with all cards sucessfull -< went to the device manager to have a look on the graphic cards, and also had a look @ the peripherals
 
There was the PCI Bus - Device 7 (it must be the last dual gpu card i have) -> it was normal symbol (computer symbol and then the next second i get a yellow warning icon)

It says that for this device not enough ressources are available -> CODE 12
If you like to use this device you have to deactivate another device.

Relaxed Ordering, Extended Tag Field NoSnoop,Active State Power M, Extended Sync DisabledMaximum Payload Size: 4096, get it from the web, this could be at the highest , the PCIe would take what it needs, if its lower this wont make a problem !
Maximum Read Request : Auto
 
Frequency Voltage Config:
MHC Strap 1600 MHz
Memory Frequency Auto
 
Memory Low Gap : 3G
Enabled Speedstep, and Turbo -> it pushed me to 3,26 Ghz, BCLK Speed 133mhz

have you tried winxp64 and seen if that'll find all the GPU's? (easily my fav folding OS) dunno whether that will let you do what you want w/ your dozens of threads tho.
per atlas early bios p6t7 gave him fits with gtx 295's but some people who posted on XS had it working w/ ubuntu w/o much problem...
 
Maybe that would be an option tryin different os - but going to take care to free up ressources for the pcie :)

Not sure but think I read sometime back W7 didn't support more than 7 video cards?
This could have just been speculation by the posters since he couldn't get more than 7 working?
What OS you using?

Actually using Win 7 - and i get Code 12 on the Device Manager - and the "not enough ressources" info.
So i will try to free up and "deactivate" other devices maybe that would give me the push for it to get it run.
 
Your Info about Win7 and not more than 7 - i´think i read that information somewhere too but couldnt remember about it

and maybe i can run 100mhz on pcie .
A lot of testing is only way get it to work.
i manage to go from 3 card to 7 card in a few Days so,,, keep testing
