The motherboard you are referring to will support 6 sticks at 4GB each, but I think you were trying to link the exact memory and you are not allowed to yet. Please post the brand and model number of the memory.

Its Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz PC 12800.I also realized that it has extended heat sinks which will interfere with the fan I have on the cooler. Is it really a bad idea to take the large heat sinks off? OCZ Gold memory I have there right now, does not have extended heat sinks. Have never had issues with heat/stability in last 7 years. This X58 machine with overclocked i7 920 keeps going and going after all these years!

For whatever reasons, my post count here got reduced to 0. I was a very active member here back in 2011 (sort of got busy with life, kids...:-)). The old password worked but I guess they reset stats/counters. So, I don't have X posts needed to post links, I guess. Strange I see others who joined in 2007 etc. and they have their post counts intact, as well as their join date. I joined in 2008/2009 I think. So, how come my data (join date is shown as yesterday) got reset?

Just an update. This memory works fine on EVGA X58 758-A1 board. It locks it at 9-9-9-24 2T. I just moved the command rate to 1T and running memtest now. One minor note: set your memory settings to Auto and disable the overclock before replacing the memory. Otherwise, it won't POST and you will need to reset CMOS later, losing all settings. Over time I have sobered and now, I am running a very low overclock of about 25% on my i7 920 with Auto vCore and Auto vDDR.

Glad to hear that the memory is working well so far. Yea overclocking for as many years at you probably have had this memory, it will take its toll over time.

My current memory is working fine. I was just looking to upgrade. Memory requirements have gone up in last 7 years. Chrome alone can eat 10GB if you open enough tabs..:-)
