Other notable facts... - I will be working as part of the crew and boarding earlier than everyone else -- working as their computer lab technician!
 Thought you guys would appreciate that... - The ship has 3-400 students, about 70% of whom are female. I feel just terrible about that.
 - Classes go 7 days a week at sea, but no school/work while in ports. The 600ft ship cruises at around a whopping 35 knots to reach the ports rapidly.
- You can sign up for field trips in every port, either pre-arranged or led by your own professors, or explore anywhere within the country's borders as long as you return in time for departure. You wouldn't even believe the field trips if I told you, just a single one of them would be an awe-inspiring experience

I'll be honest, i may have teared up a bit near the end. I really can't fathom how you were able to keep going. I have drive, I have made it through some things i consider hard times, but i would have given up if i had gone through what you have. I'm really not sure how I missed this thread. I'm a bit of a slow reader, but your posts have always been of value to me. I spent nearly the last hour or so reading everything on this thread. I really enjoyed reading your story, it was very inspirational to me. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.
Truthfuly, I never knew you were about my age. I always thought you were much older. As others have said, I can't even fathom pushing to strive for success as much as you have. I'm glad to hear things worked out for you in the end.

Rain: We've both been here an awful long time now, lol... I only know your age because you've posted pictures (working as a security guard...?)... for some reason, many people are surprised that I'm not 1) older, or 2) taller. Anyway, thank you for the kind words, and back at you, always nice to see you around. tuaamin: Thanks! Also, going back to our other conversation, I retook the GRE last week... with very little sleep, no food, and after sprinting across the city of Chicago in several different directions to pick up visas (rushed due to a late train), I took the exam and... demolished it. A year of lost sleep and anxiety wasn't enough to beat that little voice... Getting just one single victory in life (this trip) has renewed my faith that I can accomplish anything. Seriously, I improved my math score by more than an entire standard deviation. I'm within striking distance of the PhD programs now, and found some great master's programs, too. Thanks for your input on that in the past, it was very reassuring at a time I was very unsure. Can't even describe all the ways life is looking up right now. Yeah, Security... Want to find something better, but don't really know what I want, so I guess you can just say i'm enjoying how relaxed my job is at the moment. I envy people like you and my fiance that have found the career path you want to do in life and give it everything you've got.
Eventhough that comp you had was badass, it's all seems to be well worth it now.

Thanks Halo, that was not quite the music I had in mind but its still pretty cool notfordman, so long ago! I remember those messages. Thank you Rain, yeah I think so... Building computers will be here when I get back. Sadly, I'm about to dismantle the ITX system I've got, too. Real shame, it's so close to being done. This laptop stuff is kinda fun though. Really glad to see this come out all good for you man! Especially after working with you, i know you really deserve this. Congrats, and i hope you have tons of fun on the cruise. This is something i would love to do too actually, or at least study abroad.
