I guess I should have said I'd also like to go with Surround. In theory, I'm thinking each of the three monitors would get 1.5GB of vram.

Those new DX11 game are very VRAM hungry! I'm pretty sure that BF3 with all settings at maximum, will tap standard 580 out on vram, considering map sizes and 64 people MP! Metro2033 drew over a gig of vram with all max settings @ 1080! And i'm talking about single monitor!

It doesn't work that way. Even if you have 3 or 4 1.5GB cards, only 1.5GB is used in total. And as to your other comment about adding a 3GB to a 1.5GB in SLI, what I meant about it being a waste is that only 1.5GB of the 3GB will be useable. No matter how many cards you have and what amount of memory they have, your system will only can use the lowest amount of VRAM on any particular card. So having 1x 3GB 580 and 1x 1.5GB 580 in SLI, the system only has 1.5GB available, even though your total is 4.5GB. Each card's frame buffer is mirrored with the same data across all cards, no matter how many cards you have.

Example: I currently have 3x 1.5GB 580's in 3 way SLI with a surround setup. My total usable VRAM is 1.5GB

Hmm...do I want to wait and get a few of the 3gb HC's or grab the HC'd 590's as soon as I see them back in stock...
I'm doing a re-haul on my system (CPU needs an update but should last me a little longer) everything is going on water. Not sure about the mobo yet and ram is staying on air. Decisions, decisions...

You want the 580 3GB and brand dont matter mutch so just grab what you can find, besides 590 may be over as it was a limited run and you may be where the 590 cant power 3x24" and you slam in the Vramwall as 1,5GB the 590 has is low for 3x24" and if you are anything like me you hate to compromize to get below the 1,5GB limit on 590.

I'm actually reconsidering the triple monitor set-up. It was fun for a while but the "wow factor" wore off pretty fast. I will probably just take back the dell 30in ultrasharp i let the wife use. She's gonna hate me for it, but that is a beautiful monitor. That's why I was considering the 590's.

2560x1600 ftw. Multi monitor is cool, but I don't want to give up any vertical resolution and I don't want to drop another $2k on 60hz panels if I don't have to.

So if I have a GTX 580 3G with a 560 TI as dedicated physx memory is limited to what the 560 TI has?

Do I look like a mushroom?.
No, then why do you keep me in the dark?.

physx GPU is seperate. Useable VRAM is a SLI discussion (global addressing shared RAM is a CUDA 4.0 discussion... )

You still want the 580 3GB so you dont have to use lower IQ to keep performance up due to Vramlimit on 590 as there is games that can exeede 1,5GB in 2560x1600.

Yet another valid point. I'm just going to be straight forward here: The t-shirt is too awesome to pass up!
On a serious note, IF the 590 HC's ever make it back in stock, I'm going to grab a set of those, then test out the 3gb 580's when they are released. Wife already cleared those purchases...as long as I send one set back...

Hey Jacob (or anyone at EVGA), any update on a release date for the 3GB 580? Also, will they be available only from the EVGA store, or will newegg or amazon be getting them? One more question, is this going to be a one time production run, or will they be available for awhile? Thanks so much for any info you can give.

I will chime in. I haven't posted in years since I got my 256mb 7800 GT CO SE card in 2005, and it looks like my posts got deleted in that time. But I am either getting two Palit 3gb 580's or evga 3bg 580's. I'd prefer Evga as I've been blown away by their support over the years.

Pretty much I won't buy anything unless it's got a big buffer. I enjoy modding my games to the max and I don't want to be stuck with not enough ram at 2560+ with 4x+AA. Because textures and games will only get more intensive with time. So getting just enough right now for decent play is simply not smart.

Come on Evga, I'm rooting for you.

Technically they have until Friday.  After that it's mid April.

I'm wasting so much time checking here at work but I know the minute I stop...BAM they will come out and be sold out.

I hope Evga does a nice cooler for it, not simply something stock. I'm hoping for a big silent cooler as an option. I don't quite want to water cool, I might in the future. But I have a HAF 932 with plenty of airflow so I'd be up for 2-3 slot silent coolers. Something like the phantom.

Any pricing ideas, will it be in line with the Palit at like 600-620?

Please NO!
Please EVGA, don't change from the reference cooler for this card. Some of us actually want to use 3 way SLI and those big coolers don't allow for that. I have 3 of the vanilla 580's and they stay perfectly cool and are pretty silent. No need to change the cooler. And anything but external exhaust is unacceptable for 3 way as well. This would also save them on manufacturing costs. I don't want to pay any more for these cards than I have too.

If you need a bigger cooler for your card that dumps heat into your case, just buy a 3rd party cooler!

Also, if the release date is really going to be in April (soon I hope!) then the cards are already in production and nothing any of us can say will change anything.

I said option. Keep your stock cooler.
