I'd like a keyboard that makes no sound when I type, that would be my only wish.

Same!

Ugly, but I wonder if it's any good.  Too many poorly priced inferior mechanical keyboards out there, let's hope this one doesn't end up being another.

Cherry MX Clears with o-rings is the way to go.  The heavy tactile feel will keep you from bottoming out hopefully, which means they're essentially silent.  Even if you do bottom out, the o-rings will really dampen the sound of it.

I think it's safe to assume the boxy "ugly" design is just due to the fact this is an early prototype.  I can't imagine EVGA, of all companies, would bring a peripheral product to market without finishing it off with superb design.  You just don't spend a fortune on that design for an early prototype.

Asus RIVBE • i7 4930K @ 4.7ghz • 8gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 C8
2xSLI EVGA GTX 770 SC • Creative X-Fi Titanium • 2x 840 SSD + 1TB Seagate Hybrid
EVGA Supernova 1300W• Asus VG278H & nVidia 3d Vision
Phanteks Enthoo Primo w/ custom watercooling:
XSPC Raystorm (cpu & gpu), XSPC Photon 170, Swiftech D5 vario
Alphacool Monsta 360mm +6x NB e-loop, XT45 360mm +6x Corsair SP120

Probably, though people these days generally prefer gaudy over the top design opposed to sleek and sophisticated style.  I think the mouse is ugly too.  I wonder when we'll discover the OEM for the keyboard?

I agree.  I prefer the "less is more" aesthetic for computers.  I like the sleek & sophisticated look of Corsair's mechanical keyboards, the only thing they lack is the LCD display.

I refuse to give up my g15 v1 for that reason!

It will have a lot of competition! I have a Duckyshine that uses MX Blacks as I got it on a great deal. MX reds, blues etc. all work for me... As long as its back lit, mechanical, etc. It works for me
I am not all that super picky but I bet the warranty stand the test and that is what I like best, the LCD would be a welcome addition. But as was said it will be awhile before it's ready...
