Maybe 12GB or 16GB sticks would be made by that time. :P

32gb DDR3 DIMM's have been out for a long time that article alone is over 2 years old.

Ya no kidding lol, I'm considering selling one of my 2 SR-2's to change gears slightly and make my dual board system a SR-2 + SR-X. Not sure which side i would use as server though that SAS makes me think the SX one but then I drool thinking about gaming with it instead, anyone know which processor series between these 2 boards would easiest handle sub-0 temp's better?

You have two mistakes in that post, I'll just ask you the questions for you to find the right answers:
1) Do you think K|ngP|n pays for the things he breaks the records with??
2) Why would he use ASUS cards while there is EVGA and he's already working with EVGA??

1) That system is just for records.
2) Well i know he's for EVGA, but his youtube video has no mention of EVGA, just NVIDIA as general. I mentioned ASUS cards for a reason, Because they clock higher than other cards.. :) He still got his own Cooling company as kingpin cooling, he doesn't use EVGA Cooling solutions

By the way. If someone other than  him is about

This is not surprising, because you live in the country of origin
Clearly that in Russia it will not be available in the near future, as any info about it.
Could you give a link to comments please

There's no way that news release is right about it being E-ATX. You can't line up two DDR3 sockets across an E-ATX. The new board is HPTX.

mhm i don´t like the new style because the sr2 and classy looks like monsters with big coolers and heatpipes but the newones looks so unpowerfull. its the same thing if you put in a VW beetle a Challenger SRT 8 engine, sure its the same power but it doesn´t look like that

Wow that looks like what the SR-2 should have been.. not trying to be mean..

Few questions,
1. Will this have proper SATA/NIC/SAS controllers or will they be marvell again? - Reason I ask is ive had hell with the Marvell SATA and NIC on the SR-2. I use a $10 gigabit NIC and Intel for the raid.
2. Possible to trade up?

i like that in between the PCI-E lanes and the back of the board there arent as many components, allowing for one of the 6 pins to be run up behind the video cards to power the PCI-E lanes. im also hoping for (maybe this was already addressed?) a 90 degree 24 pin connector. possibly with a cover or a molded piece so the connectors aren't exposed. if this isnt addressed im tempted to make them myself and put them on (no im not that brave, id end up breaking it lol)

have the new generation Xeons been released? I heard the "best" Xeon to get now for the SR-2 are the 5690s.

This board will be great for doing productivity work or some heavy duty application. I think that for gaming, it won't be as good as a rock-solid 2600k or 990X that can OC really high. I haven't seen the Xeons OC much more than 4.4GHz with water cooling on the SR-2.

Anyone hit 5GHz with the dual Xeons and quad-SLI gtx-580 yet?

Ahhh. I was thinking they may supply instead some kind of water cooling device to be added.

no need for it anymore, the other EVGA boards are fanless. remember most of the hardware is now in the CPU, just a tiny little southbridge is left
