I have the 790i FTW mobo and I just bought a Kingston 128gb ssd and I'm having troubles with its performance, freezing every time I open 2 windows of anything. Do I need to change something in the bios? Help is always appreciated.

I don't think that old motherboard has ACPI so the only thing you need to do is make sure it is the first SATA device. How did you format it? What operating system are you using?

Put it in sata 1 spot on the mobo? It was brand new, hooked it up and installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

Are you able to reload the 790i chipset drivers without the PC freezing on you

Thanks guys for the help. But I found the problem myself. All I needed to do was reset my cmos with my on board cmos button on my motherboard. Works perfectly now!
