i7 920 does not go to a 30X multiplier. So I would say the chip is identified incorrectly.

i7 920 does not go to a 30X multiplier. So I would say the chip is identified incorrectly.

Or it's some kind of bug with CPU-z, 1.44 Vcore should not run that stable.  So which begs the question, how many of those records are REAL

I'm betting it's just showing up wrong or it's some special ES chip they got a hold of. But really, do you run LN2 set-ups with sub zero temps enough to know for sure that 1.44v is not enough to run stable? Even if it was not all that stable, those are record times, not 100% stable overclocks to run benchmarks on.

No I don't run LN2, but no way 1.44 would be stable EVEN if its idle and not under load.  ALSO ES chips would show up in CPU-z as ES

probably :p some TIM is unusable at sub-zero temps because it freezes, as far as i know.

no idea. i know that arctic silver ceramique or whatever is (or was) popular for sub-zero temps, but it's nothing special at regular temps. but it's also really old, so who knows. i'm not sure which new thermal pastes work sub-zero.

Frostbite is designed for sub-zero as well as regular cooling. The freezing point on most TIM's is about -50c at the most, most freeze way earlier, like 0 to -10c. Frostbite can go to about -80c.

Hmm if it freezes at -80c, what about when they cool with ln2? I heard it goes to -196c. Does the TIM still work well when frozen, or do the use something different for record setting attempts at Ultra-low temps?

It does not work very well once frozen. Frostbite is very effective below -80c, and still effective colder.
