Hello guys,
i have today tried to setup the EVGA Z68 FTW Mainboard for a / with a friend.
We insert following hardware into the mainboard:
CPU: i5 3550 with boxed cooler
HDD/SSD: 120 GB Sandisk Extreme , Blue Western digital 1 TB
Optical drive: LG BD burner
RAM: 2x4 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 mhz
Graphic: EVGA GTX 660SC
Power Supply: Xilence 800 W

After it we tried to start the computer, but the LCD displayed the error code 55.
So we looked up this error in the manual of the mainboard. Result of it was the error "no memory installed".
We tried after it to run the computer not in the dual channel mode with only one memory.
Again the same error occured. At first i was thinking the memory are defect, although the memory kit is new,
so we tried it again with another memory from a other computer which is really tested and okay.
But the same error was still displayed on the LCD.
The other thing which is strange is the cpu fan starts for a little moment and stop again after the Error 55 is displayed.
Until now i never had a such error and i'm very confused about it.
Somewhere here im read that it would help to remove and reseat the cpu. Same we tried today without any success, too.
What did you think, maybe is a upgrade of the bios useful? If yes, how we can upgrade the bios without a running CPU fan? A sandy bridge cpu we haven't, too. I read the CPU i5 3550 is only compatible with the newest bios release R22, is this correct ?

I hoping for every help that can bring us closer to a really solution for this problem.

    Hello N3XT0R,

Unfortunately you would need the latest R22 BIOs update for that board to support that Ivy Bridge CPU. Since you are in Germany, you would need to contact our EU office for assistance.

With the newest Bios firmware it would correctly run right?

you would have to first put a sandy bridge chip in first 2600k or 2500k then if you can get the rig to work then get the r22 bios for ivy bridge. this also will be a great way to test your board to see if it is the board or the bios update. either way you have get it online first . just get a sandy bridge cpu first that will get your ball rolling.

You could set up a Flash Drive to do the UPDATE of the BIOS. Use a separate Computer to build the bootable flash and run the update from the command prompt?

EVGA Tech will this work?  Since they are getting the 55 before complete posting?

You cannot flash the BIOS before the system is able to POST. It will not proceed until the BIOS is updated to support the CPU that is being used.

the problem will solved now by the EVGA Team in Munich (Germany).
Unfortunately they haven't any eproms with the newest bios firmware, so they will receive the mobo to the office via UPS and will flash it with the newest firmware. Thanks for any help :)

After we installed the latest BIOS version we got new error alerts. the error reports looks like that:
    1. CMOS checksum error on boot before POST
    2. keyboard seems to be detected but none of our tries to hit a key seems to work
we tried to fix the first error by clearing the CMOS but the problem still exists.

additional information to the post of Antin:

On boot (on the screen of marvel) we get a alert with "no disk was detected".
There are one SSD and one HDD connected to the mainboard, so we can't explain us this alert.
After it on the Power on self test we get the error "cmos checksum error". To fix this problem
we cleared the CMOS. After it we tried a reboot, but the same error was still alerted.
So unlikly how the situation is, we tried to replace the bios battery with a new, without any success.

Currently it is impossible to enter the bios via the keyboard, we tried it with three different keyboards,
    without any success, too.
On the LED display on the mainboard appears the errorcode "A2" but on the monitor when we have try to boot
    alerts the code "B2".

    Bios Version displayed: 689022
    Date of bios displayed: 3/1/2013

All in all its very mysterious.
Is it possible that, the new bios Revesion that was flashed to the eprom is not working correctly?
And when, how we can troubleshoot it ?

Or had had anyone else the same error and can help us?
