I really want the EVGA Stinger. I want to make sure since i will be using the Grid+ V2,Hue+ and Kraken. Will the USB 3.0 internal to USB 2.0 conversion work without problems when its connected to the IU01 by NZXT

Have you asked NZXT this question?

It will work just fine..... As i have mentioned in my previous posts, i currently have the IU01 connected to my FTW board via the USB 3 header and have my Corsair link hardware and NZXT HUE+ connected to the IU01. The Link and CAM software are both reading all that is connected and the hardware is responding to all inputs just as it should do.

Thanks didn't want to buy the board and have problems with it. Which USB 3.0 to 2.0 adapter would i need? Really loved EVGA boards for longest time so i wanted something that would work with the Hue and grid and kraken. As long as you say you don't have a problem i am happy. Isn't This why the IU01 was created for people with limited usb 2.0 headers. So all i have to get is that USB 3 to 2 adapter and connect it to the IU01 then from there connect the Kraken,Grid+ V2 and the Hue+ and it should all be read no problem?

I am really happy with my FTW and have always wanted to try some EVGA hardware. I got it because of the stealth [plain] kind of look and the simple to use bios. I wasn't very keen on offerings from other manufactures because i don't care much for their OTT molded attachments and colouring choices.

The 970 FTW+ is a great bit of kit and with a modded bios it's a monster. There is sometimes a little coil whine at certain RPM's, tho I've only really ever noticed it happening when the fans are winding down from full speed. I can live with that.

RedSpeed Here is a photo of what is going on

Connect to the 8 pin at the top near I/O panel solved The USB header is for case wiring plug it connects the front USB ports on case both 2.0 and 3.0
Sgt Hoit Are you sure, the specs state that there are 2 - USB 2.0 ports on each of the Z170 motherboards. I just ordered a Classified Z170 board for a new build and need at least 2 - USB 2.0 ports. I'm going to be pretty pissed off they're not on the board.
BACK I/O Panel man 2 x 2.0 usb port I have 4 the front of THOR V2 has dual 2.0 and 3.0 ports too. Blue Case cable for front USB 2.0/30 http://www.modsrigs.com/detail.aspx?buildid=35441 FTW is solid board my last system went almost a decade a little use of the 680i then swapped to the 780i FTW
Remember that you cannot connect a USB 2.0 into a USB 3.x Header Connector on the Motherboard. You can connect a USB Device with a USB Cable to a USB PORTS that are on the I/O Panel or the USB 3.x PORTS on the Case. DO NOT PLUG A USB 2.0 Header Connector into a USB 3.0 or 3.0 Header Connector. Is what is Missing on the FTW Motherboard is a USB 2.0 Header Connector NOT the lack of USB 2.0 Ports.
EVGA FTW Z170 USB 2.0 Ports: 2x from Intel Z170 PCH, on I/O PanelSupports hot plug Supports wake-up from S3 and S4 mode Supports USB 2.0 protocol up to a 480 Mbps transmission rateUSB 3.0 Ports: 8x from Intel Z170 PCH – 6x external on I/O panel, 2x internal (1 Header) Supports transfer speeds up to 5Gbps Backwards compatible USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 support My case wires have the header bcavnaugh posted also front panel for my case 2 x USB 3.0, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x e-SATA I have no issues or errors at all using them. So if this wrong let me know because they are supported fine on my end nothing in event viewer showing errors either z170 FTW page 12 http://www.evga.com/suppo.../files/140-SS-E177.pdf

pittbull is what is missing is a USB 2.0 Header on the Motherboard, the OP is not talking about the USB 2.0 Ports. Also for some reason the OP is calling the USB Headers on the Motherboard USB Hubs.

Eventually USB 2.0 will be a thing of the past, however imho EVGA lost some sales due to not having them or enough 3.0 headers to accommodate us still using them. I researched these cables to go from USB 3.0 to 2.0 to go with an EVGA board but ultimately decided to much of a nuance and went with another manufacturer.

I would not or will not buy a Motherboard without at least ONE USB 2.0 Header and the two USB 2.0 Ports on the Rear I/O Panel.

The next few years I don't think you will have much of a choice. Look at PCI, not many motherboards with those anymore. Everything seems to be PCIe. Kind of a shame to. I have a very nice HT Omega sound card I need to get rid of.

I really do not see that this causes a problem, users that do not need or use USB 2.0 Headers so this would work fine for them. But then you have users that do need and want USB 2.0 Headers and they would have seen this in 1 the photo and 2 in the Specifications so here EVGA is NOT hiding the fact that the FTW MB has no USB 2.0 Headers. Myself needing the USB 2.0 Header(s) would have looked at the next model that is the Classified Model K and would have seen it has One USB 2.0 Header and I would have gone for this model for a Z170 Motherboard.

It's a matter of perspective. For a board that costs me $240 (at the time) I would have expected to get more features than it's competitors who have less expensive board that met my needs and actually offered more higher end features. To be honest, I didn't even know that USB 3.0 was that much of a thing. In any case, the board only has 1 USB hub on it. As such I think that leave the user lacking a lot of options, front USB support, cooler options and other case enhancements that still use USB 2.0 hubs. Don't get me wrong, I have always been an EVGA fan boy and will continue to support their products. However I think it's critical to offer constructive feedback when users feel their needs are not met with one of their products and had to go elsewhere. I will say that it might be the small business man in me (I own a small parts business) that wants to share this kind of feedback so EVGA doesn't lose out on sales. If you create products for customers who have needs that can't be met with your products you will lose market share. As a brand loyal customer I don't want to see that happen. However, I'm not blindly loyal and have to weigh the pros and cons of their particular products to ensure I get the product that fits my PC needs.

Yes we have posted this but the OP did not see this before he bought his FTW Model. By the way the Classified K Model is in stock Amazon and is Prime.

I ran into the same set of problems when installing my Z170 FTW. The optional 6-pin power connector faces down, which is a poor design. It should face straight out. In a lot of cases it places it in near contact with the power supply, so there's no way to use it. But, all that being said, it is optional. I ended up getting a different case due to another issue so all is well now. I went a different way in routing the USB connection from my Corsair 115i to the motherboard. Obviously, the Z170 FTW is lacking a USB 2.0 header. I ran back to Microcenter and bought a compatible 3' USB cable, and just routed it outside the case by dremeling a little metal near the IO panel to allow the cable to run outside and just plugged into the remaining USB 2.0 plug; the other I use for a wireless keyboard/mouse adapter.

However most people don't typically run 3x cards in mid towers (at least I personally wouldn't want to) which is really when that supplemental connector is recommended.
