Was really excited when I first saw this board a few moments ago - seemed to address all of the PCIe layout and M.2 slot issues the full Classified had. That was until I realized that the SLI slots on this board are the first two x16s, i.e. PE1 and PE2, instead of PE1 and PE4 like everyone else seems to do it. Means with two vid cards installed they are sandwiched right up against one another. Not sure why they decided to do this when the slot layout was already perfect for making PE1 and PE4 the x8 slots for SLI. Really bums me out because it checked all the right boxes for me, except this one big oversight that ruins it.

This is so smart motherboard layout with x1 and x4 PCI-E. Smartest motherboard layout I ever saw. This board have space for one nice Sound Card in x1 slot, one nice Intel 750 SSD, and one nice Samsung 950 PRO and graphic cards. Or Intel 750 SSD could be installed in x8 slot and Thunderbolt in x4. I don't know why companies make boards without small PCI-E slots or they build 3x PCI-E x1, for what three x1 slots? Every high end motherboard in future and special motherboards now when chipset is better and better need to arrive with x4 PCI-E slot or even better x4 and x1. Because small devices as PCI-E SSD, USB 3.1 Port cards, Thunderbolt II,... can't occupy big ports and influence on GPU speed.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but that Killer Network Manager software is buggy as all get out. Make sure you have a download for the driver only without that Killer Network stuff to save a lot of people the headaches that come with it.

This ^. I would like to possibly SLI cards with ACX cooling, but I don't like the fact that they're mashed together with virtually no space unless I went with the Z170 Classified board or another brand. I suppose temps won't be an issue with fan control + liquid cooler, but I don't want them running on high all of the time as I've read another needing to do ( http://forums.evga.com/3way-Pro-SLI-Bridge-Arrived-m2000370.aspx).

Currently have an problem using the Killer Network LAN. It does not seem to download content properly from the web. Had to switch to the other LAN port. I suspect a setting is wrong as it did work in the beginning but somewhere along the way it started to act up. Any ideas? Also can someone explain the difference between the standard LAN port and the Killer?

I'm running this configuration (2x 980 Superclocked with the ACX 2.0 coolers) on this board. Top card consistently runs about 12-15C hotter than the bottom card, but I've never seen the fans ramp up above 50% even when I'm punishing them with something like Furmark. My case has pretty solid airflow, and I live in a relatively cool climate, so your results may vary.

This board is smart move. Price is not so high and board is from high segment. Next time EVGA should launch immediately something like that. Because FTW board don't have some important stuff and Classified is to expensive for many people. And price around 250-260$ is more acceptable. Even better when EVGA for such price offer board from high class as Z170 Classified K. Classified is premium but as I say too expensive for most people who decide to go with Z170 chipset. EVGA should use same strategy as for power supplies and with nice price, nice design plus many features to attract customers. If every year EVGA offer one premium board and other high end board with only little less functions but with all most important things for around 250$ customers will decide to go with them more and more instead Deluxe, Pro, Gaming and similar boards.

Any news or ETA when it will be back in stock? I have applied for step up for this board and was wondering if I'm looking at days or weeks of waiting. I recognize that even if it does come back into stock I'm not guaranteed to get one depending on how large the queue is for step up but still am curious. Edit: I see that they are in stock now

oh FFS!!!! I just ordered this board with a new skylake i7 and 2 1080 FTWs..... Didn't even bother to check that as I wouldn't have believed eVGA would do such a thing..... Can't return the CPU either.... I really don't want to use a board from another company. How much of a performance hit would I take placing a 1080 on a x4 slot?

Pathway This board is awsome :)
It's not so expensive board, I see people overclock nice their i7-6700K. i7-7700K Kaby Lake will be compatible with Z170. Nice processor number i7-7700K, 7 is my lucky number. i7-7700K will work on 3.6GHz but Turbo Boost will be fantastic if rumors are true, 4.2GHz, 600MHz increase. Intel should optimize i7-6700K to work on 4.4GHz Turbo, but anyway most people keep him on 4.5GHz or more...

You can buy any SSD, I would go on Intel 730 480, Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, CORSAIR Neutron XTi 480.

The additional 6 pin power connector is optional and only really recommend when 3 cards are in play. So you're fine if you can't fit it. And yes it is in an awkward location I cant use mine either.

I bought this board Last night ,after just buying a board a few days ago and I put in a Swiftech 240 x2 ,3 out of 4 ram slot stopped working so I RMA,ed that board for a refund and bought this one , this will be my 1st EVGA motherboard , never had a problem with my EVGA GFX Cards ,one card was from B-stock 560 TI FPB back in 2011 and still works with no issues and my 970 FTW I got this year ,so I'm hoping I will have good luck with this board ,EVGA hasn't let me down yet so I'm giving there mobo a try ,and I love the mat black look it will look good with my build is there anything else I should know about this board

that Ram should work with the board , I have the same ram but my are 3600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232306 and just cause the ram isn't on the Memory Compatibility LIST doesn't mean it not Compatible ,that's to let you know what memory EVGA has tested with this board
