Nope, but that is a new round I intend to make a build around.  Anyone take a guess what that is?

Nice.  I load for my 10mm auto mostly (overclocked of course lol), but lack the case trimmer for my rifle cartridges.  Fixture looking good.

I have tried 101 and I haven't found any difference in them even when making CPU DICE/LN2 pots so I use Cu110.  I dont think that the 0.005% of lead, bismuth and oxygen make any difference.  Thats five THOUSANDTHS of 1%.

In other news COPPER IS HERE!  working on that now!  wee!

So, its well after 2am.  I have been working on these all day, and they are still machining.  While that was going on, I managed to install a DRO on my lathe:

zoom out:

I am still trying to figure out how I am going to A; protect it, and B; route the wire.  BUT the hard part is done and its installed.   Nothing to do with the X99, but hey... its some pics anyway.

Here is my first 1080p machining video uploading.  It still has 2 more hours of machining left on this cycle.  Then I get to flip it over and MORE hours of machining.

Now I am calling it quits for the night.

Shop cam? heck no, who would want to watch me scratching my rear?
I thought about having a machine cam, but I have no idea how to go about doing that.  Who on earth would want to watch my machine going in circles for hours?

In any case, the first copper shells are cut:

I will be working on the topsides today.

You would be surprised, i think it was falcon northwest that if you ordered a computer they would stream building your pc to show you they dont cur corners.

On imgur.com that community loves perfect repetition things like machining.

yea, I guess for most it would be interested to watch since I like watching machining video's myself, but of large (real) machines.

More pics:

The interiors are also finished.  one last tapping cycle before the chipsets.

I watch lots of videos like this for reloading, since instruction books are horrible or nonexistent these days.  Blocks are looking awesome as expected.  Which sizes of thermal padding will we need nateman, any sizes specifically?

Re: EVGA X99 Classified Waterblock *sketches up* 2014/12/13 19:36:49 (permalink)
theoretically, any size should work, since I measured the heights of the chips and the chokes, so they should be the same height which means anything will work since the distances should be equal.  Ill let you know when I install one what works.

As for the chipsets, I am working on them now.  All the coding is finished for the copper, so now the machine will be burning the midnight oil again tonight.  I only wish that I had an automatic tool changer because I have several different operations that have to be done.

Serious question, do you have anyone local who can do a hard gold plate on request?   Copper is copper and nickel can have compatibility issues with some types of TIMs (namely Coolaboratory Liquid Ultra).  Since this board is going to survive through Broadwell-E (10-core), figure might as well let the blocks have max corossion resistance.

I have used CLLP and CLLU on Nickel.. it has no issues with Nickel at all. It will eat through Aluminum though. Silver and Nickel have a sweet galvanizing effect from what I hear.

This is what CLU did to my nickel plated 380i.  It's dusty because I haven't used it in a while, but you can see the "hologram" etching of when I reseated it.  This was back when I was direct die cooling my 3770k and 4770k:

That is crazy.  I have seen a very light discoloring, but never that.  I was not impressed with Direct Die mounting at all, as it didn't help the temperatures enough at all.

^Ungh!  Get it away!  Get it away!!!  What did you do to that thing?!      Just get some mega tubes of MX-4 from the Egg for $5, problems solved.  Doesn't have the absolute best temp, but good and it works very safely with everything.  Here's a chart from Frozencpu that has been fairly accurate for me , and not a whole lot has changed if you want some options:

My personal favorite has always been artic silver ceramique.  Its non-conductive  & non-capacitive properties are handy if you get it on other components. Time to head downstairs and see what the nights labor brought.
