BIOS 2.11 Updates
  • Fixed bug where enabling OC Mode causes LAN to disable.

Windows Installation
  • Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:
         150-SE-E789-KR/K2 - EVGA X79 Dark
  • First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Close all open programs.
  • Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
  • NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

USB Flash/DOS Drive Installation
  • Create a bootable disk.
  • Extract the above .zip file to your bootable disk.
  • From a DOS prompt, run update.bat
  • Press Y to start the flash process
  • DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
  • After the flashing is finished, shut the system down completely. Then power on again.

After flashing verify that the correct flash was applied by checking the version number on the lower right corner of the BIOS screen.

    Looks good so far 4.6 GHz Now.
    Was the Bluetooth removed from out of Bios Settings?
    Press F5 to Load Optimized Defaults and this will turn back on the Bluetooth Settings in the Bios.
    I do not use Bluetooth or "OC Mode" so I am fine with this Bios.

    I use a USB Thumb Drive with Windows 98/DOS Boot.
    This way all I need to do is move the Bios Switch to each position and update. Then I power off for 2 or 3 minutes and pull out the USB Thumb Drive and power on and setup the Bios.
    If you use Bluetooth then go to 2.10 if you do not use Bluetooth then 2.11 ok.

    How to Create a Boot USB Flash Drive, thank you Lvcoyote

    I use this below settings in my CONFIG.SYS file.

    device=HIMEM.SYS /testmem:off
    dos=high,umb
    files=64
    buffers=32
    stacks=9,256

    And change the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to what is below or delete it.
    @echo off

    That's not good. Jacob did post that they would not have the bluetooth on later produced Dark.

    I'll wait for the next rev if they introduce BIOS updating from within the bios.

    Same here, when I saw that appears to be the only thing in the update I decided to pass as well.

    What I've noticed about Bluetooth starting with bios rev 2.10 is this...  If you disable it at any time, it won't show again once you re-boot.  If you load bios defaults again, it will be visable again.  Make any bios changes and disable Bluetooth, reboot, and it's gone again.

    I think so too, I could go back to 2.10 and test it once my current project completes.
    So here are the Defaults for 2.10 so then that would now be True about 2.11 removing the Bluetooth Settings from the Bios.

    I put a snap shot of all the Bios settings for 2.11 on https://www.flickr.com/photos/48137161@N00/ under Dark Titan.

    So don't reset using the button on the motherboard, right?

    Jacob, any ideas?

    That is how I clear my Bios, that little "Red Button" on the MB or the Back of the I/O or the rear of the computer.
    I also use that button before I update to a new Bios Version.

    It doesn't make sense that they halfway screwed it up (BT) with rev 2.10, and now looks like totally screwed it up with rev 2.11...  For those of us with the "older" Dark boards with BT, and those of us that use it, why remove the setting from the bios??  It would seem it could just be greyed out for "newer" Dark boards released without BT devices installed.  Or have two seperate BIOS's for the two different boards.  Something to that affect.

    Yes, and maybe they should rename the new X79 Dark with a new Name.
    For me it really make no different because I do not use Bluetooth.

    I use it rarely, but do use it.  The thing I liked with rev 2.09 and prior was, I could disable it when not using it, and simply re-enable it when I want to use it.  Now with rev 2.10, you have to jump through some hoops to enable it as I described in a previous post.  And now with rev 2.11, even if I wanted to use that revision, I can't if I want to use my BT...that should be fixed!  Both in rev 2.10 & 2.11.

    Bluetooth should work under 2.10 as shown in my image. 2.10 is a better Bios Version then 2.09
    Testing now on 2.10 with setting Bluetooth to on and then off then back to on.

    Tested under 2.10 and 2.11
    Press F5 to Load Optimized Defaults and this will turn back on the Bluetooth Settings in the Bios.

    You have to reboot after disabling it.  Then it disappears.  Like this:

    Press F5 to Load Optimized Defaults and this will turn back on the Bluetooth Settings in the Bios.
    This works in Both 2.10 and 2.11 Bios Versions. Sorry for the incorrect posting on my part.

    Yep, that's what I was saying in post #10 above...you have to load default settings to get it to show up again.

    Sorry "load default settings" is now "Optimized Defaults" I guess there is no real Load Default Settings.
    For me "Load Default Settings" is done with that little Red Button.
    Glad you are around bdary someone has to keep me in check.

    Lol.  You're right though.  I guess I was using my X58 Classy for so long, and it said "Load Defualt settings" in bios.  Now with the Dark, it does say "Optimized Defaults"...

    Sorry if I missed any previous posts about this... so the older 150-SE-E789-KR has Bluetooth, but the new 150-SE-E789-K2 does not?
    EDIT: Ok, I found the thread http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=2158333 Doesn't bother me, but I suppose if you really wanted Bluetooth connectivity you could just buy an adapter http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ0ZV8608
