Got in touch with Jacob and the file was posted again. I downloaded it and flashed to BIOS 83 without incident. No failed writes at all. All is good. Great support from EVGA as always.

Used the newer posted ones (im assuming they were just uploaded) flash went smoothly with USB method no update on the blocks that previously showed write fails. So far so good.

I'm on 82, is this worth doing? I didn't think there were any new CPU's to provide microcode for. I have a 960, is there better support for it over 82? Just curious. Thanks.

I used the ones from the link on the main page no write errors reported or observed. but then again it showed no update to the blocks that previously showed the write errors. Try clearing your explorers cache and redownloading them. If you previously downloaded them and didnt clear the history or downloads IE uses the last one you downloaded but gives the appearance it downloaded again but it uses the cached copy. This goes for anything you download from the web without clearing the cached versions.

There should be a jumper to use the secondary BIOS chip. Boot using that then put it back in the original spot and reflash. Should clear up your issues.

That sounds like what happens when you don't press the CMOS reset button (while powered-down) after flashing, or possibly you loaded a previously saved BIOS profile.

Hi Jacob, Thanks for the update but I think there is something wrong with the new 83 BIOS. I updated my motherboard to it and while stress testing my Overclocks on Prime95 the Thermal Management seems to be kicking in around 70C instead of the 90C ~ 95C mark and my CPU gets downclocked? Others who own this board and using the older BIOS seems to be able to safely stay in 80 ~ 85C during Prime95? But for me the limit is around the mid 70s. So maybe you should look whats the problem. I cant seem to be able to push my CPU because of this 70C limit, I also created a topic about it here.

FWIW for the EVGA tech side of the house, I had been using BIOS version 77 going on 2 years now due my PCIe SSD and option ROM issues. Last week I decided to try out 83 on my Classified 3, really just to see if it would work. There was one initial issue where my SLI'd cards would not initialize in Windows properly: The device manager stated that there was a problem with them and they could not start. After a couple quick tweaks to the BIOS this issue seems to have been fixed and my system works as well as it ever has. So it looks like BIOS 77 isn't the only option for PCIe SSDs anymore.
