This BIOS is ONLY for the EVGA X58 SLI Motherboard (part number 132-BL-E758-) SZ2Z Updates: - Added "Reserve RC for Bridge" - Enables resources for 5 VGA's.
- Added High Precision Event Timer
- Disables PS2 keyboard in device manager if no PS2 keyboard present
BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:
CD/DVD Installation - Recommended installation method- Download the following .iso file: E758_SZ2Z.iso
- Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
- After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
- After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
- Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS
USB FLOPPY Installation - Recommended installation method- Download the following executable: E758_SZ2Z.exe
- Insert blank floppy disk into drive and run executable
- After the floppy has written fully, restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
- Now set the USB Floppy as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select USB Floppy as the bootable device
- After flash remove the floppy, power off PC Completely
- Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS
USB Flash Drive Installation - Alternate installation method- Download: E758SZ2Z.bin
- Visit this thread and follow the installation instructions. (thanks 30h6).
Warning:
**Do not restart or interrupt your PC while the flash is ongoing
**Do not Flash BIOS on overclocked settings
**It is always recommended to power-down after flash and Clear CMOS

S3 Sleep works flawlessly with this bios, rev 1.1 board, it has never ever worked before, finally, a 2 second bootup!!
And this is with a 4.4ghz OC!

Most notably, the new BIOS builds include a High Precision Event Timer (HPET), a hardware timer used to supplement and replace the periodic interrupt function of the aging Real-Time Clock (RTC). In comparison to the RTC and Programmable Interval Timer (PIT), the High Precision Event Timer can produce periodic interrupts to the CPU at much higher resolutions than the RTC is capable of. Unfortunately, the feature is only compatible with newer operating systems including Windows Vista, Windows 7 and the x86 versions of Mac OS X.
In addition, the BIOS engineering team has added a “Reserve RC for Bridge” feature that enables resources for five VGA’s and has also implemented a way to disable a PS/2 keyboard in Device Manager if no PS/2 keyboard is present. EVGA releases plethora of X58 SLI BIOS updates

HPET Support must be enabled for this BIOS option to be active. I had this problem when I flashed up to SZ2R(?). My system would take almost two hours to boot to the Windows login screen. Everything was working perfectly, except that a non-existent PS/2 keyboard started showing up in Device Manager. I had figured it was Logitech's software that messed everything up. So I completely reinstalled my system. Now I see what was really going on.

Man! You were really kidding! Because I think you don't know what the issues are. The S3 issues are not fixed in this BIOS. I still can't resume on 3rd sleep if I use manual vcore setting. And temps still rise dramatically after 5th successful attempt using Auto vcore (which of course limits the overclock).

Still no S3 resume for me. (rev 1.0).
System hangs on resume so I must power off. Then the BIOS reports the system processor has changed. I must reload my BIOS settings to get back where I was before the S3 sleep.

Can you suspend and resume multiple times at a stretch? What's the bclk? And how do VREG and SYSTEM temperatures look when you suspended 6 times and resumed?

Hmmm ... I was hoping this would be the one to which I finally update (currently at SZ21) that would fix the double boot cycle - which I always see since S3 sleep is unreliable.

I get the exact same issue on my 1.0 board. S3 is still bugged. My system wont resume properly. Requires a hard boot to get it working after a failed resume. For those that think the double boot is a problem... It was introduced a few revisions ago and thats when they made the statement that it was normal. They made the bios do it on purpose. Whats its been? like 9 bios revisions now and still no fix.. We with the rev 1.0 boards sure got screwed out of our $300+ investment.

My double pump start-up seems to have disappeared with this BIOS for some reason. Also, and this may be a stupid question, but I just installed windows 7 and want to enable VT, but can't find the option to do so in the BIOS anywhere. Am I blind or am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks!

That's why the double pump is gone. It's enabled when VT is enabled, IIRC. Try "Frequency Voltage Control -> CPU Feature". That's where it is on my mobo anyway. Z.

No. Just make sure that you load defaults from main BIOS menu before you flash. F10 and "y" restart. Keep hitting ESC to get to BOOT menu and select you flashing device (CD/DVD or Flash Drive). After flash set BIOS again to your liking and continue.

I will give this bios a try latter on...Downloading the file right now. I also have RAID 0.
