geppwnd  What you mean full potential of 920 "needs explaining"?
The only way to get S3 working (partially, because even with this, you get 5 successful resumes and then tempratures of VREG and SYSTEM go haywire) on Rev 1.1 board is to use Auto vcore, which limits the overclocking ability of the board. Using a manual vcore to get to 4.2 or 4.4 Ghz, you get no S3 love. Luckily, my D0 is a good one and give me 4Ghz with Auto vcore. But with HT ON, the difference between 4Ghz and 4.4Ghz is 15-20% in heavily threaded apps like compiling and encoding. So, there you go: can't enjoy the 4.4Ghz love just because S3 don't worky!

so you guys would recommend an x58 sli le over the vanilla ?

I'm running an EVGA 758 and one 5870. What are your problems?
Here it's running ok!

It looks to me that the x58 SLI LE only comes in a TR variety which means only a 2 year warranty.  I would go for the X58 SLI with a part number ending in A1.  With a lifetime warranty EVGA will take care of you.  I have had two X58 SLI E758 boards.  I had to RMA the first one because my PSU messed it up and EVGA took care of me.  My replacement is working like a charm.  I think those that have issues are probably in the minority.  Though I am not trying to discount their issues.

Having said all that, if you can afford it, get the Classified.  But, it is a slightly larger board.  I regret not splurging for it myself.

My PC was extremely stable until I updated to this bios.  Get a couple of bsods a day now, all dealing with seemingly random things...clock interrupt, system service exception...driver...irql not less....

I am slightly skeptical of my graphics card being a fairly new 5870 and other people getting crashes but...it was perfectly fine with the old bios.

Hello i am new to all this. I have some question about how to do bios update:
Under the warning section, it says that i should power down after flash and clear CMOS. If i use the cd method, do i need to clear CMOS? what about the usb method, do i need to clear CMOS? Finally, do i clear CMOS by pressing the button on the Mobo?

After every BIOS update with any method I take battery out and clear out CMOS. Clear CMOS button will work but I want to be extra sure that I am sarting fresh.

thank you for the fast reply. I have another question. For the usb method, i just have to download the .exe file and transfer it into a black usb? or do i have to make the usb bootable? If i have to make it bootable, do you know how to do it?

Is anyone else using the 64bit HPET feature?

I tried running it but I believe it was causing some crashes/freezing. I've turned it off since. Maybe after a BIOS revision or two Ill enable it again. I do not trust it yet since it was just released.

That might be why your S3 is not working. If I enable HPET on my E759 the S3 does not work.  You might want to disable it and try again.

Interesting, I did not know that, thanks for the feedback. - I will have to give that a try. I am getting used to not having it, Windows 7 boots up much faster than Vista did.

What exactly does HPET do?

There was a post earlier in the thread describing HPET. On the 1st page, I believe.

HPET = High Precision Event Timer and it replaces RTC =Real Time Clock or something to that nature.

I am new to all this so i have several questions that i wanna ask.
1 - In the usb flash section, i see many updates version (SZ27,SZ21,SZ1N, SZ1G, SZ1C, & SZ1A), do i have to follow a certain order, or can i just flash the latest one which i assume to be this SZ2Z?
2 - I have to install the OS before updating Bios right?
3 - Can i revert back to the old Bios if the new one turn out to be unstable?

The easiest way to do it is to burn the iso onto a cd and boot from it.  The process is pretty much automatic from there.

Asus Maximus VII Hero with 4790K, CM Hyper 212 Evo with dual fans, Corsair Vengeance 16gb, PNY 780 ti GPU, Intel 520 ssd, Enermax Platimax 1350, Windows 8.1 x64 Professional with Classic Shell, CM HAF 92 case

Yuo can flash to the latest and revert to any other revision in any order you choose.

All the software is free.

The CD method is the fastest.

You dont have to have anything installed to flash your Bios.

It appears you were right on.
I went in an disabled HPET, rebooted, then tried to sleep  and it was successful.
Thanks for the info!

Never mind I spoke to soon, tried sleeping it a couple more times, and the second time it blue screened again upon resuming.
I am not going to worry with it, just too much aggravation trying to sleep the system. It worked great on my 780i and Vista 64 bit... I guess these boards are just finnicky when it comes to sleep mode.

Your OC might not be stable as you think or if on stock BCLK your memory might be contributing to the problem especialy if you are trying to run it at 1600.

Running an overclock at 180 qpi, mem is running at 1440 mhz.
It makes it through 20 passes of LinX without error.

I get no more IRQL or System_Service BSODs anymore.  EVGA keeps adding new stuff to their boards with bios updates.  I will always game on an EVGA motherboard.  Their RMA service is Excellent.  They give premium service.  It's equivalent to BMW in my opinion.

Ok just took the plunge and updated to this bios. All seems well except I just noticed that my dimm voltage although set at 1.65 in the bios is being reported at 1.71 in E-LEET and if I change it to 1.6 in E-LEET the reported voltage is 1.65.

Is any one else seeing this as with the last two bios's it has been rock solid at 1.65 when set there?

I have the same issue with DIMM voltage but I am still at SZ2R.  I am not sure that is related to recent BIOS updates.  I do notice that under heavy load (folding VM smp) E-LEET reports my DIMM voltage dropping from 1.71 to 1.69.

I just looked back and see that I was running the SZ1G prior to this one so guess I had missed a few, but it was stable on that one at 1.65 so I am sitting here scratching my head wondering what changed.
